6 • Configuring the remote site router (Model 3201)Models 3224 G.SHDSL IpDSLAM & 6081RC NAS Appli-48 IntroductionIntroductionThe following example uses a Model 3201 as the remote site router. Configuring the Model 3201 for RIPapplication will involve the following steps:• Ethernet port IP address configuration• Ethernet Port IP Address Configuration• G.SHDSL Layer ConfigurationEthernet port IP address configurationSince this is a routed connection, the 3201 will most likely reside in a different network than the 3224 or6081RC. Assign IP address 192.168.254.10 for the Ethernet interface of the model 3201 either through theconsole port or the web interface (refer to the Model 3201 User Guide for more information)G.SHDSL layer configurationThe 3201 ships from the factory set to operate in Remote (slave) mode, while the 3224 and 6081RC operatealways in Central mode (master), in this arrangement, the 3201 will accept (during link negotiation phase)G.SHDSL configuration—such as speed—from the Model 3224. The only setting that is not accepted by the3201 during link negotiation is annex mode. Configure the annex mode manually for annex B to match annexmode on the Model 3224, otherwise the two units will not link up.PPP layer configuration1.
