The temperature in the middle is thegas mark you have chosen. The top of theoven is slightly hotter and the lower shelfslightly cooler. The base of the oven is quite alot cooler. You can make use of these heatzones when you are cooking foods that needdifferent temperatures all at the same time.If you are cooking more than one tray of similar items, for examplecakes or biscuits, swap the trays around during cooking. Or you canremove the top tray when the food is cooked and move the lower tray tothe higher shelf to finish cooking.Second oven - You should turn food round during the cooking time.PreheatingYou do not need to preheat the main or second oven for casserolingand so on.Preheat the ovens for baking or when you are cooking sensitive foodsuch as Yorkshire puddings, soufflés and yeast mixtures.When you are cooking or reheating frozen or chilled food read theinstructions on the packaging. When you are using the second oven toreheat food you should preheat the oven to gas mark 8. When you needto preheat the oven, we recommend you do so for 20 minutes.Oven shelvesYou can slot the oven shelves into any of fivepositions in the main oven and any of the twopositions in the second oven. Positions arecounted from the top downwards.The shelf in the grill/second oven isdifferent from the shelves in the main oven.Only use the shelf with the solid metal plateunderneath it in the grill/second oven.
