17Getting StartedSIM card and batteryAbout your SIM cardWhen you subscribe to your network operator, you receivea SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card containing yourregistration information, PIN code, etc.Like a credit card, it should be kept secure and handledcarefully. Do not bend, scratch or expose it to moisture. Avoidstatic electricity.To avoid corrupting your SIM card’s memory, always turn offyour phone before removing or inserting your SIM card.About your batteryYour phone uses a Li-Ion battery. Make sure to use anauthorized battery and charger only. For more details, pleaseinquire at your nearest dealer.Note Unlike other forms of battery technology, you can rechargea Li-Ion battery while some charge remains without reducing yourphone’s autonomy due to the “battery memory effect” inherent inthose technologies.Installing/Removing SIM card and battery1. Remove the battery cover fromthe unit.- To remove the battery cover,place your finger nail in thegroove at the bottom of theunit, and then lift it up.2. Insert the SIM card into the slot.The gold contacts of the SIMcard should face down.3. Slide the connector of thebattery into the notch locatedat the top of the unit. Insertand press the lower side of thebattery until you hear a click.Make sure you align the goldcontacts on the battery end withthe contacts on the phone. If thecontacts on the battery are notproperly aligned, the phone andthe battery could be damaged.
