108LSQT1146OthersWhen condensation forms on the unit, the lenswill cloud up and the unit may not work properly.Make every effort to ensure that condensationdoes not form. If it does form, take the actionsdescribed below.Causes of condensationCondensation takes place when the ambienttemperature or humidity is changed asfollows.≥ When this unit is brought inside from the cold(e.g. a ski slope) to a warm room.≥ When this unit is moved from anair-conditioned car to outside.≥ When a cold room has been warmed upquickly.≥ When cool wind from an air conditioner isdirectly blown onto this unit.≥ After summer afternoon showers of rain.≥ When this unit is in a very humid place wherethe air is thick with steam. (e.g. a heatedswimming pool)When this unit is taken to a location with asignificant temperature difference such asfrom a cold place to a hot place. If, for example, you have used this unit forrecording on a ski slope and are taking it into aheated room, place the unit inside a plastic bag, remove as much of the air from inside the bag aspossible, then seal the bag. Leave the unit forabout an hour in the room so the temperature ofthe unit is close to the ambient temperature ofthe room, then use it.What to do if the lens is fogged up.Remove the battery or AC adaptor and leave theunit for about 1 hour. When the unit becomesclose to the ambient temperature, the fogdisappears naturally.Explanation of termsAutomatic white balanceWhite balance adjustment recognizes the colorof light and adjusts so the white color willbecome a purer white. The unit determines thehue of light that comes through the lens andwhite balance sensor, thereby judging therecording condition, and selects the closest huesetting. This is called automatic white balanceadjustment. However, since the unit only stores white colorinformation under certain light sources, automatic white balance adjustment does notfunction normally under other light sources. The illustration above shows the range overwhich the auto white balance functions.1) The effective range of automatic whitebalance adjustment on this unit2) Blue sky3) Cloudy sky (rain)4) TV screen5) Sunlight6) White fluorescent lamp7) Halogen light bulb8) Incandescent light bulb9) Sunrise or sunset10) CandlelightOutside of the effective range of automatic whitebalance adjustment, the image will becomereddish or bluish. Even within the effective rangeof automatic white balance adjustment, theautomatic white balance adjustment may notfunction properly if there is more than one lightAbout condensation10 000K9 000K8 000K7 000K6 000K5 000K4 000K3 000K2 000K1 000K2)1)3)4)5)6)7)8)9)10)
