13 Getting Started2 Opening the DisplayA Pull up the part (A) and release the latch.B Lift open the display.3 Connect your computer to a power outlet.The battery charging starts automatically.CAUTIONz Do not disconnect the AC adaptor and do not switch the wireless switch to onuntil the first-time operation procedure is completed.z When using the computer for the first time, do not connect any peripheral deviceexcept the battery pack and AC adaptor.z Handling the AC adaptory Problems such as sudden voltage drops may arise during periods of thunder andlightning. Since this could adversely affect your computer, an uninterruptible powersource (UPS) is highly recommended unless running from the battery pack alone.4 Turn on the computer.A Slide and hold the power switch (B) for approximately one second until thepower indicator lights.CAUTIONz Do not slide the power switch repeatedly.z The computer will forcibly be turned off if you slide and hold the power switch forfour seconds or longer.z Once you turn off the computer, wait for ten seconds or more before you turn onthe computer again.z Do not perform the following operation until the hard disk drive indicator turns off.y Connecting or disconnecting the AC adaptory Sliding the power switchy Touching the keyboard, touch pad, tablet buttons, touchscreen (only for modelwith touchscreen), dual touch (only for model with dual touch) or external mousey Closing the displayy Turn on/off the wireless switchz When the CPU temperature is high, the computer may not start up to preventoverheating of the CPU. Wait until the computer cools down, and then turn thepower on again. If the computer does not power on even after cooling down,contact Panasonic Technical Support.z Any changes from the default setting of the Setup Utility must not be made untilthe First-time Operation is completed.5 Select OS language.A Select OS language on “Select Language” screen and click [OK].The language setting will start by clicking [OK] on the confirmation screen.You can return to the “Select Language” screen by clicking [Cancel].The language setting will be complete in about 20 minutes.B Click [OK] on the termination screen.The power of the computer goes off by clicking [OK].C Turn on the computer.CAUTIONz Carefully choose your language because you cannot change it later. If you set awrong language, you need to reinstall Windows (Î page 23).
