RQTX0278 ENGLISH30 Using the timersPreparationTurn the unit on and set the clock ( Setting the time,page 13).For the play timer, prepare the desired music source(cassette, CD, radio, external or USB) and set the volume.For the record timer, check the cassette’s erasureprevention tabs ( Erasure prevention, page 25) andinsert the tape in the deck ( Cassette tapes — Play andRecording, page 24) or plug in the USB ( USB — Play andRecording, page 26). Tune to the radio station ( The radio,page 24) or select the external source ( Using the MusicPort, page 31 and Using an external unit, page 32).1 Press [CLOCK/TIMER] to select the timer function.Every time you press the button:zPLAY: to set the play timerzREC: to set the record timer2 (Within 7 seconds or so)“ON” time Press [u, 2/REW] or [i, 1/FF] to make the setting. Press [CLOCK/TIMER] to confirm.“OFF” timeRepeat step and to make the setting.3 Press and hold [z, –PLAY/REC] to display the timerindicator.zPLAY: to turn the play timer onzREC: to turn the record timer on(The indicator does not appear if the “ON” and “OFF” timesor the clock have not been set.)4 Press [^] to turn the unit off. The unit must be off for thetimers to operate.To change the settingsDo steps 1, 2 and 4. ( above)•••CLOCK zPLAY zRECOriginal display(Off)zPLAY zREC (USB REC, TAPE REC)To change the source or volumeWhen the unit is on1 Press and hold [z, –PLAY/REC] to clear the timerindicator from the display.2 Make changes to the source or volume.3 Do steps 3 to 4. ( left)To check the settingsPress [CLOCK/TIMER] while the unit is on to select “zPLAY” or“zREC”.The settings are shown in the following order:Play timer: start time finish time source volumeRecord timer: start time finish time sourceWhen the unit is off1 Press [CLOCK/TIMER].2 During the clock display, press [CLOCK/TIMER] again.If you use the unit after the timers are setAfter using, check that the correct tape or disc is loaded or USBis inserted before turning the unit off.To cancel the timerPress and hold [z, –PLAY/REC] to clear the timer indicatorfrom the display.The play timer will start at the preset time with volumeincreasing gradually to preset level.The record timer will start 30 seconds before the set time withthe volume muted.The timer comes on at the set time every day if the timer ison.The unit must be in the standby mode for the timer tofunction.If you turn the unit off and on again while a timer isfunctioning, the finish time setting will not be activated.If MUSIC PORT or AUX is selected as the source when thetimer comes on, the system turns on and engages MUSICPORT or AUX as the source. If you wish to playback orrecord from the portable audio equipment, just activate theequipment’s play mode and increase the volume. (See theportable audio equipment’s instruction manual.)••••••NoteThe play/record timerUsing the timersYou can set the timer to come on at a certain time to wake you up (play timer) or to record a radio station or from the externalsource (record timer). The play and record timers cannot be used together. |
