If memorybatteries are not used, memory items are erasedin the following situations.• Power failures,• The power cord is disconnected from the poweroutlet,• The power cord is connected to the unit whilethe unit is being powered by batteries.(R6/LR6, AA, UM-3)When to change the batteriesThe batteries last about a year.Connect the unit to AC power before replacingthe batteries.Removing the batteriesPress the negative end of the number 4 batteryand remove the batteries. The memory bat-teries are worn out faster if the cord is discon-nected with the power still on.• Conserving powerThe unit consumes 1W even when it is turnedoff with [ ]. To save power when theunit is not to be used for a long time, unplug itfrom the household AC outlet. Remember toreset the radio stations and any other memoryitems before using the unit again if you haven’tinserted memory batteries.Using batteriesThe unit cannot be powered by batteries if thepower cord is connected.(R20/LR20, D, UM-1)When to change the batteriesSound quality and operations are affected whenthe batteries are running low. Replace all sixbatteries.
