55Cordless TelephoneWalkie-TalkieThe Walkie-Talkie feature allows handsets to communicate with each other outside therange of the base unit. When the handsets are in Walkie-Talkie mode, external callscannot be received. Only KX-TCA151AZ with Walkie-Talkie feature can communicatewith one another.Talk time in this mode is approximately 6 hours and Standby time is approximately 15hours maximum. (These times will change according to conditions.) When you havefinished using the handset in Walkie-Talkie mode, we recommend turning the handsetoff. Turn it on only when Walkie-Talkie mode is required. Turning the handset offimmediately after use will improve battery operating time.Range:The maximum range between two handsets while in Walkie-Talkie mode is up to300 metres outdoors.Setting the Walkie-Talkie ModeYou can set the Walkie-Talkie mode. There are two types: Common Base Station modeand Group mode. The factory preset is Group mode.- In Common Base Station mode, communication is possible between handsetsregistered to a common base unit. If the handsets are registered to more than onebase unit, the same base unit must be selected.If Common Base Station mode is selected and the handset is not registered to a baseunit, an error tone sounds.- In Group mode, communication is possible between handsets that are both set to thismode and whose Group IDs are common.This allows handsets to communicate in Walkie-Talkie mode regardless of whichbase unit they are registered to.Please note, the feature will not operate if AUTO is set in the base unit selection.
