10RQT7305Getting startedSTEP 2 Setting up the TV Guide On Screen systemAfter plugging the unit into your household AC outlet and pressing[¦ DVD POWER] to turn the unit on for the first time, the unit startsTV Guide On Screen system setup.Even if you do not want to use the TV Guide On Screensystem, complete the setup. You cannot use timerrecording unless the setup is completed.PreparationpTurn on the television and select the appropriate video input tosuit the connections to this unit.pWhen using the cable TV box, check the following.–Make sure the IR Blaster is connected and positioned properly(➡ page 8).–Make sure the cable TV box is turned on.1 Press [¦ DVD POWER].2 Following the on-screen messages,input the operating environment foryour television.pMove the cursor using [, , , ] and press [ENTER]to confirm.pPress the numbered buttons to enter numbers.pPress [ENTER] to advance to the next screen.pRefer to the guidance on the bottom of the screen.Set the following;pCountry (USA/Canada)pZIP (Postal) codepCable service connected to this unit (Yes/No)When “No” is selected ➡ right, “The set contents are displayedtogether”pCable TV box receiver connected to this unit (Yes/No)If you do not want to use the TV Guide On Screen system, select“No” at this point.When “No” is selected ➡ right, “The set contents are displayedtogether”Only English is displayed in the TV Guide On Screensystem. The listoffers you many convenient functions such as timer recording(➡ page 19) and so on (➡ page 23).pThis unit is not compatible with TV Guide On Screen systemsbroadcast by satellite.Downloading the television program listpThe unit downloads the television program list only when theunit is turned off.pWhen the unit is connected to a cable TV box, the cable TVbox must be turned on in order to download the televisionprogram list.pIn order to cool the circuits used for downloading the televisionprogram list, sometimes the cooling fan operates when theunit is turned off.
