Section 300~installation Chapter 5. Peripheral EquipmentPower -Failure UnitGuidelinesl Up to four SLTs can be connected to the Power Failure Unit (VA-43703). Ifa power failure occurs, the SLTs will automatically receive dial tonedirectly from the central office. DBS features and restrictions do not applywhen the SLTs are receiving dial tone from the CO.l If a call is in progress through the Power Failure Unit (PFU) when thepower is restored, the call will be disconnected.l The following tools are required to install the PFU:- Phillips screwdriver- Needle-nose pliers- Diagonal shears.IInstallation1. Remove the cover from the Power Failure Unit (PFU).2. Remove the cable punch-out plate (Figure 5-12) to make an opening forthe cables coming into the PFU.To remove the plate, cut the grooves on either side with diagonal shears.Then bend the plate back and forth with needle-nose pliers to remove it.DES-70-300 DBS Manual - Issued 8/l/95 5-l 9
