For a software problem, refer to the instruction manual of the software.• To check the computer’s usage status (Î page 117). Shut DownCannot shut down or restart Windows. z Remove USB devices.z It may take 1 or 2 minutes to shut down. Standby or HibernationCannot enter standby or hibernation. z Remove USB devices temporarily. If the problem persists, restart the computer.z It may take 1 or 2 minutes to enter standby or hibernation.z The computer may not enter standby when the computer is communicating viamodem.z The computer does not enter standby or hibernation immediately afterresuming. Wait approximately one minute.Cannot enter standby or hibernationautomatically.z Disconnect peripheral devices.The computer does not resume. z If you slide and hold the power switch for four seconds or longer, the power willbe turned off forcibly and the computer will not resume. In this case, all unsaveddata will be lost.z You disconnected the AC adaptor and the battery pack while the computer wasin standby mode. If the computer’s power supply is disconnected in standbymode, unsaved data will be lost and the computer will not resume.z The battery is exhausted. Standby and hibernation consume some power.The computer will not automaticallyenter standby/hibernation mode.z If you connect to a network using wireless LAN function, select the profile andconnect to the access point (Î page 79).z If you do not use wireless LAN function, turn off wireless LAN function (Î page73).z Make sure that you are not using any software that regularly accesses the harddisk.z Close AMcap for TOUGHBOOK. SoundNo sound. z Press Fn+F4 or Fn+F6 to cancel mute.z Press Fn+F8 to turn off the concealed mode.z Restart the computer.Distorted sound. z Performing Fn key combinations sometimes causes sound distortion. Stop andrestart playback.
