Notes on Using Narrow pitch Connectors/Stacking Connectors for High Current–7– ACCTB48E 201503-TRegarding solderingHandling Single Components■ Reflow soldering1) Measure the recommended profiletemperature for reflow soldering byplacing a sensor on the PC board nearthe connector surface or terminals.(Please refer to the specification for detailbecause the temperature setting differsby products.)2) As for cream solder printing, screenprinting is recommended.3) When setting the screen opening areaand PC board foot pattern area, refer therecommended PC board pattern andwindow size of metal mask on thespecification sheet, and make sure thatthe size of board pattern and metal maskat the base of the terminals are notincreased.4) Please pay attentions not to providetoo much solder. It makes miss matingbecause of interference at solderingportion when mating.5) When mounting on both sides of thePC board and the connector is mountingon the underside, use adhesives or othermeans to ensure the connector isproperly fixed to the PC board. (Doublereflow soldering on the same side ispossible.)6) The condition of solder or flux rise andwettability varies depending on the typeof solder and flux. Solder and fluxcharacteristics should be taken intoconsideration and also set the reflowtemperature and oxygen level.7) Do not use resin-containing solder.Otherwise, the contacts might be firmlyfixed.• Soldering conditionsPlease use the reflow temperature profileconditions recommended below forreflow soldering. Please contact usbefore using a temperature profile otherthan that described below (e.g. lead-freesolder).• Narrow pitch connectors(except P8 type)• Narrow pitch connector (P8)For products other than the ones above, please refer to the latest productspecifications.8) The temperature profiles given in thiscatalog are values measured when usingthe connector on a resin-based PCboard. When performed reflow solderingon a metal board (iron, aluminum, etc.) ora metal table to mount on a FPC, makesure there is no deformation ordiscoloration of the connector beforemounting.9) Consult us when using a screen-printing thickness other than thatrecommended.■ Hand soldering1) Set the soldering iron so that the tiptemperature is less than that given in thetable below.Table A2) Do not allow flux to spread onto theconnector leads or PC board. This maylead to flux rising up to the connectorinside.3) Touch the soldering iron to the footpattern. After the foot pattern andconnector terminal are heated, apply thesolder wire so it melts at the end of theconnector terminals.4) Be aware that soldering while applyinga load on the connector terminals maycause improper operation of theconnector.5) Thoroughly clean the soldering iron.6) Flux from the solder wire may get onthe contact surfaces during solderingoperations. After soldering, carefullycheck the contact surfaces and clean offany solder before use.7) These connector is low profile type. Iftoo much solder is supplied for handsoldering, It makes miss mating becauseof interference at soldering portion. Please pay attentions.■ Solder reworking1) Finish reworking in one operation.2) In case of soldering rework of bridges.Don’t use supplementary solder flux.Doing so may cause contact problems byflux.3) Keep the soldering iron tip temperaturebelow the temperature given in Table A.Terminal PastesolderPC boardfoot pattern60 to 120 sec.PreheatingPeak temperature200°C220°CUpper limited (Solder heat resistance)Peak temperature 260°C230°C180°C150°C70 sec.25 sec.Lower limited (Solder wettability)TimeTemperature60 to 120 sec.PreheatingTimeTemperaturePeak temperature200°C155 to 165°C245°C max.Within 30 sec.Product name Soldering iron temperatureSMD type connectors 300°C within 5 sec.350°C within 3 sec.Apply the solderwire hereTerminalPatternPC boardSmall angle aspossible up to45 degreesSolderingiron1) Make sure not to drop or allow parts tofall from work bench.2) Excessive force applied to theterminals could cause warping, comeout, or weaken the adhesive strength ofthe solder. Handle with care.3) Do not insert or remove the connectorwhen it is not soldered. Forcibly appliedexternal pressure on the terminals canweaken the adherence of the terminals tothe molded part or cause the terminals tolose their evenness. |
