60Editing the P2 card data (USB DEVICE mode/1394 DEVICE mode)You can connect a personal computer to the unit using a USB cable (for a Windows machine) or a 1394cable (for a Macintosh machine), and operate the image data on the unit’s P2 card from the computer.Editing by means of external devicesEditing in the USB device mode.Before editing in the USB device mode, refer to “The following conditions must be met when using a USBconnection” on page 52.1 Hold down [POWER] for at least 2 secondsto turn the power on.The thumbnail screen now appears.2 Press [MODE] to display the thumbnaildisplay off screen.3 Press [MENU].4 Using [STOP], [PLAY] and [STILL], select“OTHER FUNCTIONS” – “PC MODE”, andpress [STILL].5 Using [STOP] and [PLAY], select “USBDEVICE”, and press [STILL].6 Press [MENU] twice to display the thumbnaildisplay off screen.7 Hold down [MODE] for at least 2 seconds.After “USB DEVICE” is displayed, “USBDEVICE CONNECT” is displayed once the fileaccess enable status is established.• The mode cannot be changed or menusdisplayed while the USB device mode isestablished.USB DEVICEUSB DEVICECONNECT8 Edit the data on the P2 card using thepersonal computer.9 After the data has been edited, disconnectthe USB cable.The display on the LCD monitor changes from“USB DEVICE CONNECT” to “USB DEVICEDISCONNECT.”• When disconnecting the cable, perform the“safe removal of hardware” procedure at thepersonal computer.AG-HPG101394 cable (optional accessory)For a Macintosh computerUSB cable(optional accessory)For a personal computerrunning WindowsPersonalcomputerUSB 2.0 connector(Type B)IEEE1394 input/outputconnectorThis unit
