58Copying data from P2 cards to the hard drive (1394 HOST mode)Switching to the 1394 HOST mode1 Turn on the power of the hard drive (whichsupports 1394. a SBP2) to be connected,connect it to the unit using the IEEE1394cable, and hold down [POWER] on the unitfor at least 2 seconds to turn on its power.The thumbnail screen now appears.2 Press [MODE] to display the thumbnaildisplay off screen.3 Press [MENU].4 Using [STOP], [PLAY] and [STILL], select“OTHER FUNCTIONS” – “PC MODE”, andpress [STILL].5 Using [STOP] and [PLAY], select “1394HOST”, and press [STILL].6 Press [MENU] twice to display the thumbnaildisplay off screen.7 Press [MODE] to display the thumbnaildisplay screen.8 Hold down [MODE] for at least 2 seconds.The 1394 HOST mode screen now appears.1 253 461. Hard drive statusdisplayThe status is displayedin white if the hard driveis connected and can beused, in black when it isnot connected, and in redwhen data cannot be copiedbecause of its formatting orother reasons. If you plan tocopy data onto a hard driveindicated in red, format thehard drive first.4. Remainingbattery chargeThe remaining batterycharge is displayed here.5. Remaining harddrive memorydisplayThe remaining memory andtotal memory of the harddrive are displayed here. “-/-”indicates that the hard driveis not connected.6. Menu display The menu used in the 1394HOST mode is displayedhere.• Connect the unit and the hard drive using the1394 cable. Do not connect (using a chain orhub, for instance) a multiple number of harddrives even if no power is being supplied (to thechain or hub).Formatting the hard drive1 Using [STOP] and [PLAY], select “FORMAT(HDD)”, and press [STILL].Then select “YES” using [STOP], and press[STILL]. Formatting now begins. (Formattingwill be completed in about 2 or 3 seconds.)2 Select YES, and press [STILL].3 When the confirmation message appearsagain, select “YES”, and press [STILL].COPY TO HDDFORMAT (HDD)PROPERTYSETUPFormatting now begins.• Bear in mind that all the data will be erased onthe hard drive being formatted.
