Any design alterationsor additions will make you, the service, responsiblefor personal injury or property damage resulting therefrom.4) Observe original lead dress. Take extra care to assurecorrect lead dress in the following areas:(1) near sharp edges, (2) near thermally hot parts (besure that leads and components do not touchthermally hot parts), (3) the AC supply, (4) highvoltage, and (5) antenna wiring. Always inspect in allareas for pinched, out-of-place, or frayed wiring. Donot change spacing between a component and theprinted-circuit board, Check the AC power cord fordamage.5) Components, parts, and/or wiring that appear to haveoverheated or that are otherwise damaged should bereplaced with components, parts and/or wiring thatmeet original specifications. Additionally determinethe cause of overheating and/or damage and, ifnecessary, take corrective action to remove andpotential safety hazard.6) Product Safety Notice-Some electrical and mechanicalparts have special safety-related characteristics whichare often not evident from visual inspection, nor canthe protection they give necessarily be obtained byreplacing them with components rated for highervoltage, wattage, etc. Parts that have special safetycharacteristics are identified by shading, an ( ) or a( ) on schematics and parts lists. Use of a substitutereplacement that does not have the same safetycharacteristics as the recommended replacement partmight created shock, fire and/or other hazards.Product safety is under review continuously and newinstructions are issued whenever appropriate.1-2 Servicing PrecautionsCAUTION: Before servicing Instruments covered by thisservice manual and its supplements, read and follow theSafety Precautions section of this manual.Note: If unforeseen circument create conflict between thefollowing servicing precautions and any of the safetyprecautions, always follow the safety precautions.Remember; Safety First1-2-1 General Serving Precautions(1) a. Always unplug the instrument’s AC power cord fromthe AC power source before (1) removing orreinstalling any component, circuit board, module orany other instrument assembly. (2) disconnectingany instrument electrical plug or other electricalconnection. (3) connecting a test substitute inparallel with an electrolytic capacitor in theinstrument.b. Do not defeat any plug/socket B+ voltage interlockswith which instruments covered by this servicemanual might be equipped.c. Do not apply AC power to this instrument and/or anyof its electrical assemblies unless all solid-statedevice heat sinks are correctly installed.d. Always connect a test instrument’s ground lead tothe instrument chassis ground before connecting thetest instrument positive lead. Always remove the testinstrument ground lead last.Note: Refer to the Safety Precautions section groundlead last.(2) The service precautions are indicated or printed on thecabinet, chassis or components. When servicing,follow the printed or indicated service precautionsand service materials. |
