The708FX2 offers several management functions that can be easilyconfigured using a Web Browser.IGMP Snooping - Internet Group Management Protocol is a featurethat allows the708FX2 switch to forward and filter multicast trafficintelligently.VLAN - Virtual Local Area Network allows you to segment theswitch in order to create two or more separate local area networkdomains.QoS - Quality of Service provides prioritization of network trafficin order to provide better network service. The primary goal of QoSis to improve the latency of prioritized Ethernet packets required forring management, real-time, and other interactive applications.Trunking - Trunking (Link Aggregation) enables multiplephysical ports to be linked together and function as one uplink toanotherN-TRON trunking capable switch configured in the samemanner, thereby increasing the bandwidth between switches. Thisconfiguration can provide increased bandwidth and redundancy toapplications requiring high levels of fault tolerant operation.Port Mirroring - This function allows the traffic on one port to beduplicated and sent to a designated mirror port. Port mirroring canbe used to monitor Ethernet traffic on the designated source portusing the assigned mirror port.Rapid Spanning Tree - This function allows the switch to beconfigured in a Ring or Mesh topology, and provides support forredundant path communications with high speed (rapid) healing.Remote Monitoring OptionsFor ease of configuration and monitoring, the708FX2 offersWeb Browser Management and N-View OLE for Process Control(OPC) Server Software. TheN-TRON N-View Software can becombined with popular HMI software packages to add network trafficmonitoring, trending, and alarming to any applicationusingN-TRON switches. In addition SNMP and a COM portinterface are available for switch link and status monitoring. AlarmContact and Status LED can be configured to respond to powerfailure on power input 1 or input 2, N-Ring Broken, Partial BreakHigh, Partial break Low, or if multiple Ring managers are detected.N-Ring TechnologyN-TRON's708FX2 Ring Manager usingN-TRON's N-Ringtechnology offers expanded ring size capacity, detailed faultdiagnostics, and a standard healing time of ~30ms. The708FX2Ring Manager periodically checks the health of the Ring viapackets. If the Ring Manager stops receiving these health checkpackets, it converts the Ring to a fiber optic backbone within~30ms. In addition to standard Ring Manager protocol, whenusing allN-TRON fully managed switches in the ring,a detailed ring map and fault location chart will also beprovided on the Ring Manager’s web browser and OPCServer to identify the health status of the ring. Up to 250 fullymanagedN-TRON switches can participate in N-Ring topologies.Industrial Packaging and SpecificationsThe708FX2 is designed to operate in industrial environments. Itis housed in a rugged steel DIN-Rail enclosure. It has extendedindustrial specifications and features to meet or exceed theoperating parameters of the connected equipment. These includeextended temperature ratings, extended shock and vibrations specs,redundant power inputs, and high MTBF (greater than 2M hours).Ease of UseThe 10/100BaseTX ports are auto sensing and auto configuring.Each copper port is automatically negotiated for maximumspeed and performance by default, but can also be hard codedusing the user interface.
