Safety instructionsBattery tool use and care1. Recharge only with the charger specifiedby the manufacturer. A charger that issuitable for one type of battery pack maycreate a risk of fire when used withanother battery pack.2. Use power tools only with specifically des-ignated battery packs. Use of any otherbattery packs may create a risk of injuryand fire.3. When battery pack is not in use, keep itaway from other metal objects, like paperclips, coins, keys, nails, screws or othersmall metal objects, that can make a con-nection from one terminal to another.Shorting the battery terminals togethermay cause burns or a fire.4. Under abusive conditions, liquid may beejected from the battery; avoid contact. Ifcontact accidentally occurs, flush withwater. If liquid contacts eyes, additionallyseek medical help. Liquid ejected fromthe battery may cause irritation or burns.5. Do not use a battery pack or tool that isdamaged or modified. Damaged or mod-ified batteries may exhibit unpredictablebehaviour resulting in fire, explosion orrisk of injury.6. Do not expose a battery pack or tool tofire or excessive temperature. Exposureto fire or temperature above 130 °C maycause explosion.7. Follow all charging instructions and donot charge the battery pack or tooloutside the temperature range specifiedin the instructions. Charging improperlyor at temperatures outside the specifiedrange may damage the battery andincrease the risk of fire.Important safety instructions for battery cart-ridge1. Before using battery cartridge, read allinstructions and cautionary markings on(1) battery charger, (2) battery, and (3)product using battery.2. Do not disassemble battery cartridge.3. If operating time has become excessivelyshorter, stop operating immediately. Itmay result in a risk of overheating, pos-sible burns and even an explosion.4. If electrolyte gets into your eyes, rinsethem out with clear water and seek med-ical attention right away. It may result inloss of your eyesight.5. Do not short the battery cartridge:(1) Do not touch the terminals with anyconductive material.(2) Avoid storing battery cartridge in acontainer with other metal objects suchas nails, coins, etc.(3) Do not expose battery cartridge towater or rain. A battery short can cause alarge current flow, overheating, possibleburns and even a breakdown.6. Do not store the battery cartridge in loc-ations where the temperature may reachor exceed 50 °C (122 °F).7. Do not incinerate the battery cartridgeeven if it is severely damaged or is com-pletely worn out. The battery cartridgecan explode in a fire.8. Be careful not to drop or strike battery.9. Do not use a damaged battery.10. The contained lithium-ion batteries aresubject to the Dangerous Goods Legis-lation requirements.For commercial transports e.g. by thirdparties, forwarding agents, specialrequirement on packaging and labelingmust be observed.For preparation of theitem being shipped, consulting an expertfor hazardous material is required.Please also observe possibly moredetailed national regulations.Tape or mask off open contacts and packup the battery in such a manner that it can-not move around in the packaging.11. Follow your local regulations relating todisposal of battery.12. Use the batteries only with the productsspecified by Makita.
