8 ENGLISHPreparation1. Always wear substantial footwear and longtrousers while operating the machine.2. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery thatcan be drawn into the water inlet. Keep longhair away from the water inlets.3. Always wear protective goggles to protectyour eyes from injury when using power tools.The goggles must comply with ANSI Z87.1 inthe USA, EN 166 in Europe, or AS/NZS 1336in Australia/New Zealand. In Australia/NewZealand, it is legally required to wear a faceshield to protect your face, too.It is an employer's responsibility to enforcethe use of appropriate safety protective equip-ments by the tool operators and by other per-sons in the immediate working area.4. To prevent dust irritation the wearing of a facemask is recommended.5. While operating the machine, always wearnon-slip and protective footwear. Non-skid,closed-toed safety boots and shoes will reduce therisk of injury.6. Wear ear protection, such as ear muffs.Exposure to noise can cause hearing loss.7. Wear protective gloves.Operation1. Before the operation, make sure that there areno sharp objects in the work area that coulddamage the hose.2. Do not pour or splash water toward bystand-ers, animals, power unit, or energized parts.3. Do not use the pump for potable water.4. Do not pump corrosive chemicals or flamma-ble liquids.5. Clear the area of children, bystanders, andpets. At a minimum, keep all children, bystand-ers, and pets outside a 5 m radius.6. Switch off the machine and remove the batterycartridge, and make sure that all moving partshave come to a complete stop• whenever you leave the machine.• before clearing blockages.• before checking, cleaning or working onthe machine.• if the machine starts to vibrateabnormally.7. Operate the machine only in daylight or ingood artificial light.8. Do not overreach and keep proper balance andfooting at all times.9. Always be sure of your footing on slopes.10. Operate the machine in a recommended posi-tion and on a firm surface.11. Do not operate the machine at high places.12. If the machine strikes any foreign objects orshould start making any unusual noise orvibration, immediately switch off the machineto stop it. Remove the battery cartridge, andinspect the machine for damage before restart-ing and operating the machine. If the machineis damaged, ask Makita Authorized ServiceCenters for repair.13. Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure theswitch is in the off-position before insertingbattery cartridge, picking up or carrying themachine. Carrying the machine with your fin-ger on the switch or energizing the machinethat has the switch on invites accidents.14. Before assembling or adjusting the machine, switchoff the machine and remove the battery cartridge.15. Wear the personal protective equipmentsbefore starting the machine.16. Before starting the machine, inspect themachine for damages, loose screws/nuts orimproper assembly. Check all switches foreasy action. Clean and dry the handles.17. Never attempt to start the machine if themachine or hose is damaged or not fullyassembled.18. Adjust the shoulder harness and hand grip tosuit the operator's body size.19. During operation, use the shoulder harness.Keep the machine on your right side firmly.► Fig.220. Hold the front handle with the left hand and therear grip with the right hand, no matter you areright-hander or left-hander. Wrap your fingersand thumbs around the handles.21. Never attempt to operate the machine with onehand. Loss of control may result in an injury.22. Follow the instruction manual of the powerunit for proper use.23. Refer to the instruction manual of the powerunit for how to start and control the machine.24. During operation always hold the tool withboth hands. Never hold the tool with one handduring use.25. Do not operate the tool in bad weather or ifthere is a risk of lightning.26. Before operation, make sure that the shoulderharness is properly attached to the tool.27. Do not submerge the machine in water orplace the machine on a wet surface.28. Do not leave the tool unattended outdoors inthe rain.29. During operation or while moving your oper-ating position, be careful not to trip over thehoses or pipes at your feet.30. When you use the machine on muddy ground,wet slope, or slippery place, pay attention toyour footing. |
