7 ENGLISHIndicator lamps RemainingcapacityLighted Off Blinking75% to 100%50% to 75%25% to 50%0% to 25%Charge thebattery.The batterymay havemalfunctioned.NOTE: Depending on the conditions of use and theambient temperature, the indication may differ slightlyfrom the actual capacity.NOTE: The first (far left) indicator lamp will blink whenthe battery protection system works.Appliance / battery protection systemThe appliance and battery are equipped with the protectionsystem. This system automatically cuts off power to themotor to extend appliance and battery life. The appliancewill automatically stop during operation if the appliance orbattery is placed under one of the following conditions.• Overload protection : When the appliance orbattery is operated in a manner that causes it todraw an abnormally high current, the applianceautomatically stops without any indication. Inthis situation, turn the appliance off and stop theapplication that caused the appliance to becomeoverloaded. Then turn the appliance on to restart.• Overheat protection : When the appliance orbattery is overheated, the appliance automaticallystops. Let the appliance cool down before turningit on again.• Overdischarge protection : When the batterycapacity becomes low, the appliance stops auto-matically. If the appliance does not operate evenwhen the switches are operated, remove thebattery cartridge from the appliance and charge it.Protections against other causesProtection system is also designed for other causes thatcould damage the appliance and allows the appliance tostop automatically. Take all the following steps to clearthe causes, when the appliance has been brought to atemporary halt or stop in operation.1. Turn the appliance off, and then turn it on again torestart.2. Charge the battery(ies) or replace it/them withrecharged battery(ies).3. Let the appliance and battery(ies) cool down.If no improvement can be found by restoring protectionsystem, then contact your local Makita Service Center.OPERATIONPreparationWhen using the appliance for the first time, or after longperiod of storage, perform the following steps.1. Remove all packing materials from the appliance.2. Clean the interior of the kettle and filter. There maybe dirt such as dust on them.See the chapter “MAINTENANCE” for how to clean.Boiling waterCAUTION: Boil only water. Do not boil otherthan water.CAUTION: Do not put the appliance on anunstable place, a place where people often pass,or a place where children can reach. Otherwise theappliance may be accidentally tipped over and causean injury.CAUTION: When closing the lid, push thelid securely and put the discharge lock button inlocked position. Otherwise burn injury may occurwhen falling accident occurs.1. Open the lid while pushing both of the open-lidbuttons.2. Pour preferred amount of fresh tepid water into thekettle. Then close the lid.CAUTION: Make sure the discharge lockbutton is in locked position. Otherwise boiled watermay be spilled unintentionally and cause burn injury.CAUTION: Do not over fill water exceedingthe maximum line. Otherwise boiled water may beejected and cause burn injury.NOTICE: Prevent no-water burning, do not turnon the appliance without water. Otherwise discolor-ation or malfunction may occur.Fig.6 |
