1210. If the cord is damaged, have it replaced by themanufacturer or his agent in order to avoid asafety hazard.Personal Safety1. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and usecommon sense when operating a power tool. Donot use a power tool while you are tired or underthe influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. Amoment of inattention while operating power toolsmay result in serious personal injury.2. Use personal protective equipment. Always weareye protection. Protective equipment such as a dustmask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat or hearingprotection used for appropriate conditions will reducepersonal injuries.3. Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switchis in the off-position before connecting to powersource and/or battery pack, picking up or carryingthe tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on theswitch or energising power tools that have the switchon invites accidents.4. Remove any adjusting key or wrench beforeturning the power tool on. A wrench or a key leftattached to a rotating part of the power tool may resultin personal injury.5. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing andbalance at all times. This enables better control ofthe power tool in unexpected situations.6. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing orjewellery. Keep your hair and clothing away frommoving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long haircan be caught in moving parts.7. If devices are provided for the connection of dustextraction and collection facilities, ensure theseare connected and properly used. Use of dustcollection can reduce dust-related hazards.8. Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use oftools allow you to become complacent and ignoretool safety principles. A careless action can causesevere injury within a fraction of a second.9. Always wear protective goggles to protect youreyes from injury when using power tools. Thegoggles must comply with ANSI Z87.1 in the USA,EN 166 in Europe, or AS/NZS 1336 in Australia/New Zealand. In Australia/New Zealand, it islegally required to wear a face shield to protectyour face, too. (Fig. 1)It is an employer’s responsibility to enforce theuse of appropriate safety protective equipmentsby the tool operators and by other persons in theimmediate working area.Power tool use and care1. Do not force the power tool. Use the correct powertool for your application. The correct power tool willdo the job better and safer at the rate for which it wasdesigned.2. Do not use the power tool if the switch does notturn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot becontrolled with the switch is dangerous and must berepaired.3. Disconnect the plug from the power source and/orremove the battery pack, if detachable, from thepower tool before making any adjustments,changing accessories, or storing power tools.Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk ofstarting the power tool accidentally.4. Store idle power tools out of the reach of childrenand do not allow persons unfamiliar with thepower tool or these instructions to operate thepower tool. Power tools are dangerous in the handsof untrained users.5. Maintain power tools and accessories. Check formisalignment or binding of moving parts,breakage of parts and any other condition thatmay affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged,have the power tool repaired before use. Manyaccidents are caused by poorly maintained powertools.6. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properlymaintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges areless likely to bind and are easier to control.7. Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc.in accordance with these instructions, taking intoaccount the working conditions and the work tobe performed. Use of the power tool for operationsdifferent from those intended could result in ahazardous situation.8. Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, cleanand free from oil and grease. Slippery handles andgrasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling andcontrol of the tool in unexpected situations.9. When using the tool, do not wear cloth workgloves which may be entangled. The entanglementof cloth work gloves in the moving parts may result inpersonal injury.Service1. Have your power tool serviced by a qualifiedrepair person using only identical replacementparts. This will ensure that the safety of the power toolis maintained.2. Follow instruction for lubricating and changingaccessories.Safety instructions for mitre sawsENB130-21. Mitre saws are intended to cut wood or wood-likeproducts, they cannot be used with abrasive cut-off wheels for cutting ferrous material such asbars, rods, studs, etc. Abrasive dust causes movingparts such as the lower guard to jam. Sparks fromabrasive cutting will burn the lower guard, the kerfinsert and other plastic parts.2. Use clamps to support the workpiece wheneverpossible. If supporting the workpiece by hand, youmust always keep your hand at least 100 mm fromeither side of the saw blade. Do not use this saw tocut pieces that are too small to be securelyclamped or held by hand. If your hand is placed tooclose to the saw blade, there is an increased risk ofinjury from blade contact.3. The workpiece must be stationary and clamped orheld against both the fence and the table. Do notfeed the workpiece into the blade or cut“freehand” in any way. Unrestrained or movingworkpieces could be thrown at high speeds, causinginjury.
