Switch leverTo start the tool, simply squeeze the switch lever.Release the switch lever to stop.For model HM1812 onlyNOTE:• Blows at no load per minute becomes smallerthan those on load in order to reduce vibrationunder no load, but this does not show trou-ble. Once operation starts with a bit againstconcrete, blows per minute increase. Whentemperature is low and there is less fluidity ingrease, the tool may not have this function evenwith the motor rotating.Indicator lamps► Fig.2: 1. Power-ON indicator lamp (green)2. Service indicator lamp (red)The green power-ON indicator lamp lights up when thetool is plugged. The indicator lamp is lit but the tool doesnot start even if the tool is switched on, the carbon brushesmay be worn out, or the controller, the motor or the ON/OFF switch may be malfunction. The red service indicatorlamp flickers up when the carbon brushes are nearly wornout to indicate that the tool needs servicing. After someperiod of use, motor will automatically be shut off.ASSEMBLYCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before carrying out any work on thetool.Installing soft grip► Fig.3: 1. Soft grip 2. BoltSoft grip is NOT installed before factory shipment.Install soft grip securely.► Fig.4: 1. Triangle alignment markSet the triangle alignment marks on the hammer bodyand on the soft grip when installing the soft grip.Installing or removing the bit(optional accessory)CAUTION:• Always assure that the bit is securely retainedby attempting to pull the bit out of the tool holderafter installing the bit.• Follow the below 2 installation methods inaccordance with the 2 different types of bits. Ifinappropriate installation method is selected, thebit cannot be secured.► Fig.5: 1. Bit with collar 2. Bit without collarThis tool accepts bits either with or without a collar on its shank.To install the bit, follow either procedure (1) or (2)described below.(1) For bits with a collar► Fig.6: 1. Bit 2. Tool retainer 3. Tool holderPivot the tool retainer downward (approx. 60 degrees).Insert the bit into the tool holder until it stops. Return thetool retainer and secure the bit.(2) For bits without a collar► Fig.7: 1. Notched portion of the bit 2. Tool retainer3. Tool holderPivot the tool retainer upward (approx. 60 degrees).Face the notched portion of the bit upward. Insert the bitinto the tool holder until it stops. Pivot the tool retainerfurther until it stops at the tool holder.To remove the bit, follow the installation procedure inreverse. |
