7 ENGLISH(2) For bits without a collar► Fig.8: 1. Bit 2. Tool retainer 3. Tool holder 4. Whenthe bit is inserted 5. When the bit is retainedPivot the tool retainer forward and slightly down-ward. With the notched portion of the bit facing thetool retainer shaft, insert the bit into the tool holderas far as it will go. Then pivot the tool retainerfurther downward toward the barrel to securelyretain the bit.CAUTION:• Always assure that the bit is securely retainedby attempting to pull the bit out of the tool holderafter completing the above procedure.• The bit without a collar cannot be retained bythe method shown in Fig.(1).To remove the bit, follow the installation procedure inreverse.OPERATIONChipping/Scaling/Demolition► Fig.9Always use the side grip (auxiliary handle) and firmlyhold the tool by both side grip and switch handle duringoperations. Turn the tool on and apply slight pressureon the tool so that the tool will not bounce around,uncontrolled. Pressing very hard on the tool will notincrease the efficiency.MAINTENANCECAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before attempting to perform inspec-tion or maintenance.• Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner, alcoholor the like. Discoloration, deformation or cracksmay result.LubricationCAUTION:• This servicing should be performed by MakitaAuthorized Service Centers only.This tool requires no hourly or daily lubrication becauseit has a grease-packed lubrication system. It should berelubricated regularly. Send the complete tool to MakitaAuthorized or Factory Service Center for this lubricationservice.To maintain product SAFETY and RELIABILITY, repairs,any other maintenance or adjustment should be per-formed by Makita Authorized Service Centers, alwaysusing Makita replacement parts.OPTIONALACCESSORIESCAUTION:• These accessories or attachments are recom-mended for use with your Makita tool specifiedin this manual.
