When battery pack is not in use, keep it awayfrom other metal objects, like paper clips,coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metalobjects, that can make a connection from oneterminal to another. Shorting the battery termi-nals together may cause burns or a fire.7. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejectedfrom the battery; avoid contact. If contact acci-dentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid con-tacts eyes, seek medical help. Liquid ejected fromthe battery may cause irritation or burns.8. Do not use a battery pack or machine that isdamaged or modified. Damaged or modifiedbatteries may exhibit unpredictable behaviourresulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury.9. Do not expose a battery pack or machine tofire or excessive temperature. Exposure to fireor temperature above 130°C (265°F) may causeexplosion.10. Follow all charging instructions and do notcharge the battery pack or machine outside ofthe temperature range specified in the instruc-tions. Charging improperly or at temperaturesoutside of the specified range may damage thebattery and increase the risk of fire.11. Have servicing performed by a qualified repairperson using only identical replacement parts.This will ensure that the safety of the product ismaintained.12. Do not modify or attempt to repair the machineor the battery pack except as indicated in theinstructions for use and care.Important safety instructions forbattery cartridge1. Before using battery cartridge, read all instruc-tions and cautionary markings on (1) batterycharger, (2) battery, and (3) product usingbattery.2. Do not disassemble or tamper with the batterycartridge. It may result in a fire, excessive heat,or explosion.3. If operating time has become excessivelyshorter, stop operating immediately. It mayresult in a risk of overheating, possible burnsand even an explosion.4. If electrolyte gets into your eyes, rinse themout with clear water and seek medical atten-tion right away. It may result in loss of youreyesight.5. Do not short the battery cartridge:(1) Do not touch the terminals with any con-ductive material.(2) Avoid storing battery cartridge in a con-tainer with other metal objects such asnails, coins, etc.(3) Do not expose battery cartridge to wateror rain.A battery short can cause a large currentflow, overheating, possible burns and even abreakdown.6. The operating temperature of this batterycartridge is between 0°C and 40°C (32°F and104°F).7. Do not store the battery cartridge in locationswhere the temperature may go -20 °C (-4 °F) orless, or, 40 °C (104 °F) or more.8. Do not store and use the tool and battery car-tridge in locations where the temperature mayreach or exceed 50 °C (122 °F).9. Do not incinerate the battery cartridge even ifit is severely damaged or is completely wornout. The battery cartridge can explode in a fire.10. Do not nail, cut, crush, throw, drop the batterycartridge, or hit against a hard object to thebattery cartridge. Such conduct may result in afire, excessive heat, or explosion.11. Do not use a damaged battery.12. The contained lithium-ion batteries are subjectto the Dangerous Goods Legislation require-ments.For commercial transports e.g. by third parties,forwarding agents, special requirement on pack-aging and labeling must be observed.For preparation of the item being shipped, consult-ing an expert for hazardous material is required.Please also observe possibly more detailednational regulations.Tape or mask off open contacts and pack up thebattery in such a manner that it cannot movearound in the packaging.13. When disposing the battery cartridge, removeit from the tool and dispose of it in a safeplace. Follow your local regulations relating todisposal of battery.14. Use the batteries only with the productsspecified by Makita. Installing the batteries tonon-compliant products may result in a fire, exces-sive heat, explosion, or leak of electrolyte.15. If the tool is not used for a long period of time,the battery must be removed from the tool.16. During and after use, the battery cartridge maytake on heat which can cause burns or lowtemperature burns. Pay attention to the han-dling of hot battery cartridges.17. Do not touch the terminal of the tool imme-diately after use as it may get hot enough tocause burns.18. Do not allow chips, dust, or soil stuck into theterminals, holes, and grooves of the batterycartridge. It may cause heating, catching fire,burst and malfunction of the tool or battery car-tridge, resulting in burns or personal injury.19. Unless the tool supports the use nearhigh-voltage electrical power lines, do not usethe battery cartridge near a high-voltage elec-trical power lines. It may result in a malfunctionor breakdown of the tool or battery cartridge.20. Keep the battery away from children.SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.CAUTION: Only use genuine Makita batteries.Use of non-genuine Makita batteries, or batteries thathave been altered, may result in the battery burstingcausing fires, personal injury and damage. It willalso void the Makita warranty for the Makita tool andcharger. |
