6bolt smaller than M8 (5/16”), perform the above testoperation to prevent the trouble on socket or bolt,etc.• If the tool is operated continuously until the batterycartridge has discharged, allow the tool to rest for15 minutes before proceeding with a fresh battery.The fastening torque is affected by a wide variety of fac-tors including the following. After fastening, always checkthe torque with a torque wrench.1. When the battery cartridge is discharged almostcompletely, voltage will drop and the fasteningtorque will be reduced.2. Socket• Failure to use the correct size socket will causea reduction in the fastening torque.• A worn socket (wear on the hex end or squareend) will cause a reduction in the fasteningtorque.3. Bolt• Even though the torque coefficient and theclass of bolt are the same, the proper fasteningtorque will differ according to the diameter ofbolt.• Even though the diameters of bolts are thesame, the proper fastening torque will differaccording to the torque coefficient, the class ofbolt and the bolt length.4. The manner of holding the tool or the material ofdriving position to be fastened will affect the torque.5. Operating the tool at low speed will cause a reduc-tion in the fastening torque.MAINTENANCECAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off and thebattery cartridge is removed before attempting toperform inspection or maintenance.Replacing carbon brushesRemove and check the carbon brushes regularly.Replace when they wear down to the limit mark. Keepthe carbon brushes clean and free to slip in the holders.Both carbon brushes should be replaced at the sametime. Use only identical carbon brushes.Use a screwdriver to remove the brush holder caps. Takeout the worn carbon brushes, insert the new ones andsecure the brush holder caps.After replacing brushes, insert the battery cartridge intothe tool and break in brushes by running tool with no loadfor about 1 minute. Then check the tool while running andelectric brake operation when releasing the switch trig-ger. If electric brake is not working well, ask your localMakita service center for repair.To maintain product SAFETY and RELIABILITY, repairs,any other maintenance or adjustment should be per-formed by Makita Authorized or Factory Service Centers,always using Makita replacement parts. EN0001-1Recycling the BatteryThe only way to dispose of a Makita battery is to recycleit. The law prohibits any other method of disposal.To recycle the battery:1.
