5Tips for maintaining maximum battery life1. Charge the battery cartridge before completelydischarged.Always stop tool operation and charge the bat-tery cartridge when you notice less tool power.2. Never recharge a fully charged battery cartridge.Overcharging shortens the battery service life.3. Charge the battery cartridge with room tempera-ture at 10°C – 40°C (50°F – 104°F). Let a hot bat-tery cartridge cool down before charging it.4. Charge the Nickel Metal Hydride battery car-tridge when you do not use it for more than sixmonths.FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off and the bat-tery cartridge is removed before adjusting or checkingfunction on the tool.Installing or removing battery cartridge (Fig.1)• Always switch off the tool before insertion or removal ofthe battery cartridge.• To remove the battery cartridge, withdraw it from thetool while pressing the push buttons on both sides ofthe cartridge.• To insert the battery cartridge, align the tongue on thebattery cartridge with the groove in the housing and slipit into place. Always insert it all the way until it locks inplace with a little click. If not, it may accidentally fall outof the tool, causing injury to you or someone aroundyou.• Do not use force when inserting the battery cartridge. Ifthe cartridge does not slide in easily, it is not beinginserted correctly.Switch action (Fig. 2)CAUTION:• Before inserting the battery cartridge into the tool, always check to see that the switch trigger actuatesproperly and returns to the “OFF” position whenreleased. To start the tool, simply pull the switch trigger. Tool speedis increased by increasing pressure on the switch trigger.Release the switch trigger to stop.Lighting up the front lamp (Fig. 3)CAUTION:• Do not look in the light or see the source of lightdirectly.Pull the switch trigger to light up the lamp. The lampkeeps on lighting while the switch trigger is being pulled.NOTE:• Use a dry cloth to wipe the dirt off the lens of lamp. Becareful not to scratch the lens of lamp, or it may lowerthe illumination.Reversing switch action (Fig. 4)This tool has a reversing switch to change the direction ofrotation. Depress the reversing switch lever from the Aside for clockwise rotation or from the B side for counter-clockwise rotation. When the reversing switch lever is in the neutral position, the switch trigger cannot be pulled.CAUTION:• Always check the direction of rotation before operation.• Use the reversing switch only after the tool comes to acomplete stop. Changing the direction of rotationbefore the tool stops may damage the tool.• When not operating the tool, always set the reversingswitch lever to the neutral position.ASSEMBLYCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off and the bat-tery cartridge is removed before carrying out any workon the tool.Selecting correct socketAlways use the correct size socket for bolts and nuts. Anincorrect size socket will result in inaccurate and incon-sistent fastening torque and/or damage to the bolt or nut.Installing or removing socket (Fig. 5 & 6)For socket with O-ring and pinMove the O-ring out of the groove in the socket andremove the pin from the socket. Fit the socket onto theanvil of the tool so that the hole in the socket is alignedwith the hole in the anvil. Insert the pin through the holein the socket and anvil. Then return the O-ring to the orig-inal position in the socket groove to retain the pin. Toremove the socket, follow the installation procedures inreverse. For socket without O-ring and pinTo install the socket, push it onto the anvil of the tool untilit locks into place. To remove the socket, simply pull it off.OPERATIONThe proper fastening torque may differ depending uponthe kind or size of the bolt, the material of the workpieceto be fastened, etc. The relation between fasteningtorque and fastening time is shown in the figures. (Fig. 7& 8)Hold the tool firmly and place the socket over the bolt ornut. Turn the tool on and fasten for the proper fasteningtime.NOTE:• When fastening screw M8 (5/16”) or smaller, carefullyadjust pressure on the switch trigger so that the screwis not damaged.• Hold the tool pointed straight at the bolt or nut.• Excessive fastening torque may damage the bolt/nut orsocket. Before starting your job, always perform a testoperation to determine the proper fastening time foryour bolt or nut. Especially for the bolt smaller than M8(5/16”), perform the above test operation to prevent thetrouble on socket or bolt, etc.• If the tool is operated continuously until the battery car-tridge has discharged, allow the tool to rest for 15 min-utes before proceeding with a fresh battery. |
