If the voltage is correct, replace the systemboard. If the problem is not corrected, go to“Undetermined Problems” on page 227. If the voltage is not correct, go to the next step.2. Unplug the AC Adapter cable from the ac poweroutlet and wait five minutes or longer to allow theover voltage protection circuit to be fully dischargedand initialized.3. Plug the AC Adapter cable into the ac power outlet.4. Measure the output voltage of the AC Adapter.5. If the voltage is still not correct, replace the ACAdapter.Note: An audible noise from the AC Adapter does notalways indicate a defective adapter.Checking Operational Charging: To checkoperational charging, use a discharged battery pack or abattery pack that shows a yellow or orange battery statusindicator when it installed in the computer.Perform operational charging. If the battery statusindicator turns orange and the battery charging indicatorturns green within two minutes, replace the AC Adapter.Checking the Battery Pack: Battery charging willnot start until the Fuel-Gauge shows that less than 90% ofthe total power remains; with this condition the batterypack will charge to 100% of its capacity. This protects thebattery pack from being over-charged or having ashortened life.Notes:a. Models 355x and 360x battery pack does notcontain a microprocessor. In the following, ignore any reference to the storage switch.b. Before you perform the following procedure, check the following: The correct battery pack is used for themodel. The storage switch set to on (|).1. Power-off the computer.2. Remove the battery pack and measure the voltagebetween battery terminals 1 (+) and 4 (−). See thefollowing figure.Note: The following figure shows the battery for theModel 370C, 750x, 755C, and 755Cs. Thebattery for Models 355x and 360x, do nothave the storage switch, but the batteryterminals are the same.Pin Voltage (V dc)1 +19.0 to +21.02 Ground208 IBM Mobile Systems HMM
