Align the six screw holes in the new system board with the corresponding screw holes in the chassis.Then, install the six screws to secure the system board.11. Route all the cables that you disconnected from the failing system board, and then reconnect the cablesto the new system board. See “Parts on the system board” on page 34.12. Reinstall the PCI Express card. See “Replacing the PCI Express card” on page 109.13. Reinstall the Wi-Fi card. See “Replacing the Wi-Fi card” on page 104.14. Reinstall the heat sink and fan assembly. Reinstall the computer cover and reconnect cables to your computer. See “Completing the partsreplacement” on page 113.The failing system board must be returned with a microprocessor socket cover to protect the pins duringshipping and handling.To install the microprocessor socket cover, do the following:1. After you have removed the microprocessor from the failing system board, close the microprocessorretainer. Then, put the lever to the locked position to secure the retainer in place.2. Note the orientation of the socket cover, and install one side of the socket cover into the microprocessorsocket. Carefully press the other side of the socket cover downward until the socket cover snapsinto position.3. Carefully check the four corners of the socket cover to ensure that the cover is seated securely.4.
