Appendix D. GlossaryAdvanced Battery Management (ABM)A three-stage charging system designed to prolong the service life ofLenovo UPS batteries. By charging the batteries only when necessary,battery life is significantly improved. Charging stage one: quickly rechargesbattery to approximately 90% of capacity. Charging stage two: fully chargesthe battery to 100%. Charging stage three: rest mode preventsovercharging. Charging stage one is initiated after a power outage orperiodic UPS self-test.Backup timeTime during which the load can be supplied by the UPS operating onbattery power.Bypass AC sourceAlternate source of power for the UPS, used when the UPS is in Bypassmode.Frequency converterOperating mode used to convert the AC-power frequency between the UPSinput and output (50Hz → 60Hz or 60Hz → 50Hz).HE modeOperating mode by which the load is supplied directly by the Bypass ACsource if it is within the tolerances defined by the user.
