Page 9N EO THERM Boilers and Water HeatersMethod 1: Two permanent openings, one commencing within12” (300mm) of the top and one commencing within 12”(300mm) of the bottom, of the enclosure shall be provided. The openings shall communicate directly, or by ducts, withthe outdoors or spaces that freely communicate with theoutdoors. When directly communicating with the outdoors, orwhen communicating to the outdoors through vertical ducts, each opening shall have a minimum free area of 1 square inchper 4000 Btu/hr (550 square mm/kW) of total input ratingof all equipment in the enclosure. When communicating tothe outdoors through horizontal ducts, each opening shallhave a minimum free area of not less than 1 square inch per2000 Btu/hr (1100 square mm/kW) of total input rating of allequipment in the enclosure.Method 2: One permanent opening, commencing within12” (300mm) of the top of the enclosure, shall be permitted. The opening shall directly communicate with the outdoorsor shall communicate through a vertical or horizontal ductto the outdoors or spaces that directly communicate with theoutdoors and shall have a minimum free area of 1 square inchper 3000 Btu/hr (734 square mm/kW) of the total input ratingof all equipment located in the enclosure. This opening mustnot be less than the sum of the areas of all vent connectors inthe confined space.Section 3 -VENTING AND COMBUSTION AIR3.1 Combustion AirNeoTherm boilers and water heaters must have provisionsfor combustion and ventilation air in accordance with theapplicable requirements for Combustion Air Supply andVentilation in the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223 1; or inCanada, the Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code, CSAB149.1. All applicable provisions of local building codes mustalso be adhered to.A NeoTherm unit can take combustion air from the spacein which it is installed, or the combustion air can be ducteddirectly to the unit. Ventilation air must be provided in eithercase.Combustion Air From RoomIn the United States, the most common requirements specifythat the space shall communicate with the outdoors inaccordance with method 1 or 2, which follow. Where ductsare used, they shall be of the same cross-sectional area as thefree area of the openings to which they connect.INSTALLATION STANDARDSMATERIAL UNITED STATES CANADAABS ANSI/ASTM D1527PVC, sch 40 ANSI/ASTM D1785 or D2665 Air pipe material must be chosenCPVC, sch 40 ANSI/ASTM F441 based upon the intended application of the boiler.Single wall galv. steel 26 gaugeTable 4 - Required Combustion Air Pipe MaterialPRO TECH (FasNSeal) HEAT FAB (Saf-T-Vent) Z FLEX (Z-Vent)SIZE Boiler Flue Intake Air Boiler Intermediate Flue Intake Air Boiler Flue Intake AirAdapter Termination Termination Adapter Adapter Termination Termination Adapter Termination Termination399-600 F303759 FSBS4 FSAIH04 KB285600 9454BUREZ-1* 9492 9414TERM 2SVSLA04 2SVSTP04 2SVSTEX0490FSRC4(R.C) 303888 5400CI 2SVSRCX04750-850 F303759 FSBS6 FSAIH04303888Table 3b - Approved Stainless Terminations and AdaptersHORIZONTAL INTAKE AND EXHAUST PVC VENT TERMINAL KITS2” PVC 3” PVC 4” PVC 6” PVCSizeStandardConcentricCA006000Flush MountCA010100StandardCA005900Concentric239-44069-01Flush MountCA010101StandardFlush MountCA010102Standard80 incl. opt. opt. opt. opt. opt. n/a n/a n/a105 incl. opt. opt. opt. opt. opt.l n/a n/a n/a150 n/a n/a n/a incl. opt. opt. n/a n/a n/a199/210 n/a n/a n/a incl. opt. opt. n/a n/a n/a285 n/a n/a n/a opt. opt. opt. incl. opt. n/a399 n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a incl. opt. n/a500 n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a incl. opt. n/a600 n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a incl. opt. opt.750 n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a opt. incl.850 n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a opt. incl.Concentric vent terminal = 10 ft. pipe lengthTable 3a - PVC Vent Terminal Kits
