Wearrubber gloves. Do not use any type of cleanser other thandishwasher detergent because it may cause foaming or sudsing.To clean interiorMake a paste with powdered dishwasher detergent on a dampsponge and clean.ORUse liquid automatic dishwasher detergent and clean with adamp sponge.ORSee the vinegar rinse procedure in “Spotting and filming ondishes” in “Troubleshooting.”NOTE: Run a Normal cycle with detergent after cleaning theinterior.Drain Air GapCheck the drain air gap anytime your dishwasher isn’t drainingwell.Some state or local plumbing codes require the addition of adrain air gap between a built-in dishwasher and the home drainsystem. If a drain is clogged, the drain air gap protects yourdishwasher from water backing up into it.The drain air gap is usually located on top of the sink orcountertop near the dishwasher. To order a drain air gap call yourlocal dealer, or in the U.S.A., call the Customer Interaction Centerand ask for Part Number 300096.NOTE: The drain air gap is an external plumbing device that isnot part of your dishwasher. The warranty provided with yourdishwasher does not cover service costs directly associated withthe cleaning or repair of the external drain air gap.To clean the drain air gapClean the drain air gap periodically to ensure proper drainage ofyour dishwasher. Follow the cleaning instructions provided by themanufacturer. With most types, you lift off the chrome cover.Unscrew the plastic cap. Then check for any soil buildup. Clean ifnecessary.StoringStoring for the summerProtect your dishwasher during the summer months by turningoff the water supply and power supply to the dishwasher.Winterizing your dishwasherProtect your dishwasher and home against water damage due tofreezing water lines. If your dishwasher is left in a seasonaldwelling or could be exposed to near freezing temperatures, haveyour dishwasher winterized by authorized service personnel.
