• If the alarm is located outside the bedroom or on a differentfloor, it may not wake up a sound sleeper.• The use of alcohol or drugs may also impair one’s ability to hearthe smoke alarm. For maximum protection, a smoke alarmshould be installed in each sleeping area on every level of ahome.• Although smoke alarms can help save lives by providing anearly warning of a fire, they are not a substitute for aninsurance policy. Home owners and renters should haveadequate insurance to protect their lives and property.Carbon Monoxide (CO) AlarmThe Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarm monitors the air for thepresence of CO. It will alarm when there are high levels of COpresent, and when there are low levels of CO present over alonger period of time (see page 21 for alarm times). When a COcondition matches either of these situations, the alarm/voicemessage warning system will sound, and be accompanied by theflashing red LED light. The carbon monoxide sensor uses anelectrochemical technology.CAUTION: This alarm will only indicate the presence ofcarbon monoxide gas at the sensor. Carbon monoxide gasmay be present in other areas.Individuals with medical problems may consider using warningdevices which provide audible and visual signals for carbonmonoxide concentrations under 30 ppm.Features and General Information7!
