Cylinder (Marine Applications)DESCRIPTIONKidde ® ECS™ Fire Suppression System 900 lb. cylin-ders store 3M™ Novec™ 1230 Fire Protection Fluidsuper-pressurized with dry nitrogen to 360 PSIG at 70°F(2.48 Mpa at 21°C). The cylinders are painted red andare equipped with a 3-inch pressure differential valve,pressure gauge, optional liquid level indicator andoptional low-pressure switch assembly. The safety burstdisc is also located on the cylinder head.OPERATIONThe agent storage container discharges when the actua-tion assembly operates, causing the pressure differentialvalve to open. All of the Kidde actuators may be used toactuate the 900 lb. cylinder. The only exception is theP/N 82-486500-010, which is not compatible with this cyl-inder valve.INSTALLATIONThe container is installed in a vertical position with thevalve assembly pointing up. Interconnection to dischargepiping is 3-inch NPT. Interconnection can be via a 3-inchflex hose (P/N 06-118225-001) or via a suitably pressurerated groove style fitting.The container is secured in place by two (2) mountingbrackets (P/N 06-236125-001) or by two (2) cylinder cra-dles (P/N 06-118300-001), which must be fixed to a solidwall or strut assembly. Once the container is securelymounted, connect it to discharge piping per the directionsin the latest revision of the Design, Installation, Operationand Maintenance Manual (P/N 06-236559-001).An optional cylinder supervisory pressure switch (P/N 06-118262-001) can be installed on the cylinder valve in thefield if required. This cylinder supervisory pressure switchhas a 1/8-inch NPT connection, which is used on the 3-inch valve only.
