Kennedy BSK075 Instruction Manual
GAS FILLINGFill only in a well ventilated area. The soldering iron runs on butane gassuch as used with ordinary cigarettelighters. A small amount of liquid gasshould be visible through the gasinspection window, gas vapour alonewill not generate sufficient pressure.Do not overfill.l Make sure the on/off switch isin the “O” (off) position before filling.l Hold unit vertically with thefilling valve upwards. Push the gasre-fill cylinder down onto the fillingvalve. The flow of gas from the re-fillcylinder to the soldering irondepends on gravity (See fig. 2).CHANGING THE TIPSCAUTION: Allow the tip to cool completely before removing.Tips are easily removed or installed, by unscrewing the tip retainingcollar and sliding the tip retainer tube off the front end burner.Replace the tip and reassemble in the reverse order. (See fig. 3)IGNITION SEQUENCEThe unit is ignited by a piezo-electronic system. The gas “on/off”switch is marked “I-0”. The ignition switch is marked with a " ".l Soldering, hot air, hot knife: Fit tip of choice and secure withretention sleeve/collar. Turn temperature regulator button to Max.setting. Hold away from face and body and push the gas switchtoward the tip, this will release the gas. 'Click back' on piezoignition switch and allow to return while still maintaining lightthumb pressure on the switch, this enables the gas flow interruptmechanism to extinguish the ignition flame, and allows thecatalyst to assume combustion control. A glowing catalyst, in theexhaust port, will confirm correct operating mode.l Blow torch:N.B. The flame is difficult to see under certain lighting situations.Remove only the tip. Turn temperature regulator to mid setting.Turn gas on as above. ‘Click back’ on piezo ignition switch andquickly release (the internal spring will provide sufficient speed). If the speed of return of the piezo switch is slowed slightly byfinger pressure, the gas flow interrupt mechanism may extinguishthe flame. Experience will dictate. Set low to medium settings asthe flame may "blow itself out' at high gas flow.l To Switch off: Push the gas switch away from the tip “O” (OFF).BUTANE SOLDERING TOOL KITMODEL BSK075ORDER CODE KEN-516-9120Kl Cordless and refillablel Uses standard butanelighter fuell 25 -75W ratingl Complete with blow torch, hot air tool, hot knife and tipsSAFETY GUIDELINESl Always use with care. Your soldering iron contains flammablegas under pressure.l Always keep out of the reach of children.l Always refill with a high quality butane cigarette lighter fuel.No other fuel type should be used.l Always ensure the flame is extinguished before putting down.Caution: Hot gases 580°C are emitted from the exhaust port.l Always ignite the soldering iron with the tip pointing away from faceand body. Excessive gas flow, flaming or the catalyst pulsing redto black may occur when igniting or when the regulator is settoo high.l Always allow the tip to cool sufficiently before touching.l Always ensure that you are in a well ventilated area. Thisproduct, when used for soldering and similar applications, produces chemicals. Never inhale vapours from fluxes, plastics, foams etc.l Always dispose of in accordance with local regulations.l Never leave unattended.l Never drop.l Never use if the soldering iron is damaged.l Never expose to heat above 50°C and avoid prolonged exposureto the sun.l Never puncture or incinerate.l Never refill, ignite or use near flame or combustible materials.l Never replace cap without first switching off and ensuring the tiphas cooled.l Never attempt to dismantle, readjust or repair. The soldering ironis not user serviceable.l Never “carry on” or “check in” baggage containing this itemwithout confirming with the airline first that this is acceptable.Ignition switch ( )Gas inspectionwindowFilling valveTemperatureregulating dialFig. 2I (ON) o (OFF)Gas ON-OFF switchSoldering tipFig. 1INSTRUCTION MANUAL www.kennedy-tools.co.ukExhaust portsTIP TEMPERATURE RANGESSoldering: 580°CBlow torch: 1,300°CHot air: 625°CHot knife: 580°CTip retaining collarFront endburnerTipTip retainingcollarSoldering iron Tip retainingtubeFig. 3 |
