Before Setting Oven ControlsOven vent locationThe oven vent is located under the left side of the controlpanel (See Fig. 1). When the oven is on, warm air passesthrough this vent. This venting is necessary for proper aircirculation in the oven and good baking results. This design provides several additionalpossible positions between the flat rack positions.To maximize oven cooking space place the bottom ovenrack (on some models) in the lowest rack position forroasting large cuts of meat. Be sure to remove the bottomrack before activating Flex Clean to prevent it from beingdiscolored.Air circulation in the ovenFor best baking results allow 2-4" (5-10 cm) around thecookware for proper air circulation and be sure pans andcookware do not touch each other, the oven door, sides orback of the oven cavity. Hot air must be able to circulatearound the cookware in the oven for even heat to reacharound the food (Fig. 3 ).Fig. 3Baking layer cakes with 1 or 2 oven racksFor best results when baking cakes or cookies using 2 ovenracks, place cookware on rack positions 3 and 6 (6 usingthe offset oven rack on some models). For best results whenbaking cakes or cookies using a single oven rack, placecookware on rack position 3 or 4 (See Fig. 2).
