20Setting Auto Surround—AUTO SRYou can enjoy Surround mode simply by selecting the source (withdigital input selected for that source).Select “ON” when activating Auto Surround.ON: • If multi-channel signal comes in, an appropriateSurround mode will be turned on.• If Dolby Digital 2 channel or DTS 2 channel signalincluding surround signal comes in, “PLII MOVIE” willbe selected.• If Dolby Digital 2 channel or DTS 2 channel signal notincluding surround signal comes in, “STEREO” will beselected.• If Linear PCM signal comes in, nothing will change.The AUTO SR indicator lights up on the display.OFF*: Select this to deactivate Auto Surround.* Initial settingNOTES• This function does not take effect in the following cases:– While playing an analogue source, and– While selecting “DGTL D.D.” or “DGTL DTS” as the fixed digitalinput mode (see page 12).• If Surround mode is automatically activated by Auto Surround, anyother Surround mode in use will be canceled temporarily. When themulti-channel digital signal stops coming in, “PLII MOVIE” activates.• If you press SURROUND with Auto Surround activated, AutoSurround will be canceled temporarily for the currently selectedsource.Auto Surround setting will be restored in the following cases:– When you turn the receiver off and on,– When you change the source,– When you change the analogue/digital input, and– When you reset “AUTO SR” to “ON” again.Setting the Auto Function mode—MODEThe video components can be operated through this receiver byactivating Auto Function mode.• This function takes effect for the following sources—DVD (exceptDVD MULTI), STB, and VR, when they are connected using SCARTcables.AUTO1: When a video component is turned on while the receiveris on, the receiver selects the video component as thesource automatically.The AUTO MODE indicator lights up on the display.AUTO2: When a video component is turned on while thereceiver is on or TV Direct activates, the receiverselects the video component as the sourceautomatically.When a video component is turned on while thereceiver is off, TV Direct activates and the receiverselects the video component as the sourceautomatically.When a video component currently selected as thesource is turned off while the receiver is on or TVDirect activates, the receiver changes the source to thepreviously selected one.When all video components are turned off while thereceiver is on or TV Direct activates, the receiver isturned off automatically.The AUTO MODE indicator lights up on the display.MANUAL*: Select the source manually.* Initial settingNOTEWhen selecting VR as the source, “AUTO1” or “AUTO2” may not workif you only turn on the VR.
