While thecurrent setting is displayed, press COLOURSYSTEM again to change the mode asillustrated below. The On-Screen display willshow which mode is selected.● If the mode is changed between differenttypes of colour signals, the picture mightbe distorted at the switching point.* Appears during playback only.NOTES:● In the AUTO mode, NTSC signals will beautomatically recorded as NTSC 3.58.● In the AUTO mode, NTSC tapes will beplayed back as NTSC 3.58.● SECAM signals will always be recorded asMESECAM. Select the AUTO or theMESECAM mode when recording SECAMsignals.● When playing back a SECAM tape, selectthe AUTO or MESECAM mode. Theplayback picture will always bemonochrome.● In the NTSC 4.43 mode, with some TVs,on-screen displays (Program screen etc.)may roll up or down and there may be aloss of colour. When this happens, selectthe AUTO mode.Mode DescriptionAUTO Usually set to this mode. Thismode automatically detects PAL,NTSC 3.58, MESECAM and adjuststo the colour system beingrecorded or played back.When it does not perform properly,set the colour system manually.MANUAL For recording, there is a choice of 4selectable modes; NTSC 3.58/NTSC 4.43/PAL/MESECAM. Selectthe mode that matches the coloursignal being received.For playback, there is an additionalmode which allows NTSC tapes tobe played back and viewed on PALTVs.To record an NTSC 4.43 signal,perform the following steps,A Press and hold 9, and press 7to enter Recording PauseMode.B Press COLOUR SYSTEMrepeatedly and select NTSC4.43 colour mode.C Press $ to start recording.
