30 EN PLAYBACK (cont.)C Adjusting tracking condition— Tracking AdjustmentsAutomatic tracking adjustmentThis VCR automatically adjusts the tracking condition.Whenever you insert a tape and start playback, automatictracking starts working and continuously analyzes thesignal to enable optimum picture quality duringplayback.Manual tracking adjustmentIf automatic tracking cannot eliminate noises well duringplayback, use the manual tracking following theprocedures below.• You can also use the manual tracking during slowmotion playback (A page 34). During slow motionplayback, simply press [CHANNEL +] or [–] on the VCR(or [TV/VCR CH +] or [–] on the Remote) to adjusttracking.1 Activate manual trackingPress [CHANNEL +] and [–] on the front panel atthe same time during playback.2 Eliminate the noises on the TV screenPress [CHANNEL +] or [–].• Press it briefly for a fine adjustment, or press andhold for a coarse adjustment. Watch the screenand continue adjustment until optimum pictureand sound quality are achieved.• To reactivate automatic tracking, press[CHANNEL +] and [–] on the front panel at thesame time. The automatic tracking becomesactive again.D Selecting monitor sound— Audio MonitorYou can select the desired monitor sound.While playing back a tape on which stereo sound or SAPsound is recorded, press [A. MONITOR] on the Remoteor [AUDIO MONITOR] on the front panel.Each time you press the button, sound changes asfollows:S-VHS/VHSD-VHSNOTES:• The above indication appears when “SUPERIMPOSE” is set to“ON” (A page 66), though the monitor sound changes insequence.• If the tape being played back has no Hi-Fi sound track, thenormal sound track will be heard regardless of this setting.“UL RV” : Normally select this.Hi-Fi sound is played back.“UL” : Sound on the left Hi-Fi channel isplayed back.“RV” : Sound on the right Hi-Fi channel isplayed back.“NORMAL” : Sound on the normal track is playedback.“MIX” : Both sounds on the Hi-Fi track andnormal track are mixed and playedback.“UL RV” : Normally select this.“UL” : Sound on the left channel is playedback.“RV” : Sound on the right channel is playedback.NORMALMIXL R L RL R L R
