TROUBLESHOOTINGThe vast majority of new speaker“malfunctions” end up being traced toconnections or switch settings. Checkthe following tips first, before request-ing service.No sound at all or very faint soundfrom both speakers1. Amp/receiver tape monitor buttonpushed in while using CD, FM orphono inputs.2. Wrong speaker switch, “A” or “B”speaker output.3. Sound source (CD, cassette deck,turntable) not turned on, notactivated, not hooked up or notselected on amp/receiver front panel.No sound from one speaker1. Balance control turned all the wayleft or right.2. Speaker wire has becomedisconnected.Both speakers play at lowvolume but shut off as volume isincreased OR sound turns on andoff intermittentlyA few strands of speaker wire may beshorting out. Recheck the connections.Recheck the impedance requirementsof the amp.Bass is very weak AND/OR soundseems to come from each speakerseparately, without creating astable stereo image between thespeakers.1. The polarity (+&–) of one speakerhas been reversed relative to theother. Double check connections.2. Speakers are too far away fromback and side walls or too far apart.Experiment again with the speakerplacement. If you are still experi-encing problems, consult your JBLdealer.GENERAL CAREThe grille is held in place by pins nearthe edges (except G40, which has anon-removable grille). To remove thegrille, grasp it by both top and bottomedges and pull gently. To replacegrille, reposition it carefully and pressgently at the corners. Do not push onthe center area of the grille.The loudspeaker cabinet may becleaned with a slightly damp cloth. Toremove dust from the grille cloth, usea vacuum with a brush attachment.Spots may be removed with acommercial spot remover. Do not useany cleaners or solvents on thespeaker drivers themselves.SERVICEShould your loudspeaker ever needservice, return it to the JBL dealerfrom whom it was purchased. If forsome reason this is impractical, call800-336-4JBL for your nearestwarranty station.
