31STORAGEWinter StorageThe machine should be readied for storage at theend of the mowing season or if it will not be in usefor more than 30 days. Fuel allowed to stand forlong periods of time (30 days or more) can leavesticky residues that can clog the carburetor anddisrupt engine function.Fuel stabilizers are an acceptable option toprevent the sticky residues that can occur duringstorage.Add stabilizer to the fuel in the tank or in thestorage container. Always use the mixing ratiosspecified by the manufacturer of the stabilizer.Operate the engine for at least ten minutesafter adding the stabilizer so that it reaches thecarburetor. Do not empty the fuel tank and thecarburetor if stabilizer has been added.To ready the machine for storage:1. Thoroughly clean the machine, especiallybelow the mower deck. Touch up damageto the paint and spray a thin layer of oil onthe underside of the mower deck to avoidcorrosion.2. Inspect the machine for worn or damagedparts and tighten any nuts or screws that mayhave become loose.3. Change the engine oil; dispose correctly.4. Empty the fuel tanks or add a fuel stabilizer.Start the engine and let it operate until thecarburetor is drained of fuel or the stabilizerhas reached the carburetor.5. Remove the spark plug and put about atablespoon of engine oil into the cylinder.Turn over the engine so that the oil is evenlydistributed and then refit the spark plug.6. Lubricate all grease zerks, joints and axles.7. Remove the battery. Clean, charge and storethe battery in a cool area and protected fromdirect cold.8. Store the machine in a clean, dry area andcover it for more protection.ServiceWhen ordering spare parts, please specify thepurchase year, model, type, and serial number.Always use genuine Husqvarna spare parts.An annual check-up at an authorized serviceworkshop is a good way to make sure that yourmachine performs its best the following season.WARNING! Do not store an engine withfuel in the tank indoors or in poorly ventilatedspaces where fuel vapor can come in contactwith open flames, sparks, or a pilot lightsuch as in a boiler, hot water tank, clothesdryer, etc. Handle the fuel with care. It is veryflammable and can cause dangerous personalinjury and property damage. Drain the fuelinto an approved container outdoors andstore far away from open flame or sources ofignition. Do not use gasoline for cleaning. Usea degreaser and warm water.
