6.1 CookwareFor induction cooking zonesa strong electro-magneticfield creates the heat in thecookware very quickly.Use the induction cookingzones with suitablecookware.Cookware material• correct: cast iron, steel, enamelledsteel, stainless steel, multi-layerbottom (with a correct marking from amanufacturer).• not correct: aluminium, copper,brass, glass, ceramic, porcelain.Cookware is suitable for an inductionhob if:• water boils very quickly on a zone setto the highest heat setting.• a magnet pulls on to the bottom of thecookware.The bottom of the cookwaremust be as thick and flat aspossible.Ensure pan bases are cleanand dry before placing onthe hob surface.Cookware dimensionsInduction cooking zones adapt to thedimension of the bottom of the cookwareautomatically.The cooking zone efficiency is related tothe diameter of the cookware. Thecookware with a diameter smaller thanthe minimum receives only a part of thepower generated by the cooking zone.Refer to "Technical data".6.2 The noises duringoperationIf you can hear:• crack noise: cookware is made ofdifferent materials (a sandwichconstruction).• whistle sound: you use a cookingzone with a high power level and thecookware is made of differentmaterials (a sandwich construction).• humming: you use a high power level.• clicking: electric switching occurs.• hissing, buzzing: the fan operates.The noises are normal and do notindicate any malfunction.6.3 Hints & Tips forSenseBoil®The function works best for boiling waterand preparing potatoes.It does not work with castiron and non-stick cookware,e.g. with a ceramic coating.Enamelled steel pots arerecommended for achievingthe best results while boilingpotatoes.Check if the pot you chose is suitable forSenseBoil® by monitoring the firstcooking session.To use SenseBoil® efficiently follow theadvice below:• Fill between half to three quarters ofthe pot with cold tap water leaving 4cm from the rim of the pot empty. Donot use less than 1 or more than 5litres of water. Make sure the totalweight of the water (or the water andpotatoes) ranges between 1-5 kg.• If you want to cook potatoes, makesure they are completely covered withwater, but remember to leave at leastone quarter of the pot empty.• To achieve the best results cook onlywhole, unpeeled, medium-sizedpotatoes.• Make sure you do not pack potatoestoo tightly.• Avoid producing external vibrations(e.g. from using a blender or placing amobile phone next to the appliance)when the function is running.• If you want to use salt, add it after thewater reaches the boiling point.• The function may not work properlyfor water kettles and espresso pots.6.4 Öko Timer (Eco Timer)To save energy, the heater of thecooking zone deactivates before theENGLISH 35
