25MAINTENANCECaster WheelsCheck at 200 hour intervals. Check that wheelsturn freely. If wheels do not turn freely take theunit to your dealer for service.Foam filled tires or solid tires will void thewarranty.Removal and installationRemove nut, washer and caster bolt. Pull thewheel out of the yoke and take care of the spacers.Install in reverse order. Tighten caster bolt.V-beltsCheck the belts every 100 hours of operation.Check for severe cracking and large nicks.The belt will show some small cracks in normaloperation. The belts are not adjustable. Replacethe belts if they begin to slip from wear.Deck Belt Removal1. Park on a level surface and apply the parkingbrake.2. Lower the deck to the lowest cutting position.3. Remove both belt shields.4. Remove the debris that has accumulatedaround the cutter housings and the decksurface.5. Loosen the nut securing the belt guide. Notethe position of the belt guide for reinstallation.6. Push inward on the idler arm to release thetension on the belt.7. Slip the belt over the top of the cutter housingpulleys and remove the belt from the deck.Deck Belt InstallationNOTE: For ease in installing the deck belt, refer tothe routing decal on the top of the deck.1. Wrap the deck belt around the electric clutchpulley located on the engine shaft.2. Route the belt forward and up onto the deck.3. Place the belt around the spring loaded idlerpulley.4. Wrap the belt around the stationary idlerpulley and around the mandrel housings.5. Push inward on the idler arm and carefullyroute the belt over the stationary idler pulley.Once the belt is properly routed, slowlyrelease the idler arm to tension the belt.6. Make sure the belt routing matches the deckdecal and that the belt does not have anytwists.7. Tighten the belt guide and replace the beltshields on both mandrel housings. The beltguide should be perpendicular to the beltwhen installation is complete.Adjusting the Mower DeckLeveling deckAdjust the deck while the mower is on a levelsurface. Make sure the tires are inflated tothe correct pressure. See Technical Data /Transmission. If tires are under or over inflated,the deck cannot be correctly adjusted. Raise thedeck to the highest (transport) position.The deck must be adjusted slightly higher in therear.NOTE: To insure the precision of the levelingprocedure, the mower deck drive belt must beinstalled before leveling the deck.1. Wear heavy gloves. Turn each outer blade tipto align front to rear with the deck side-to-side.
