6 Hold onto the flywheel and lift the saw slightly abovethe work surface. Strike the tool squarely on its endwith a hammer to free the flywheel from the crank-shaft. Remove the tool and flywheel.The starter pawls and springs are serviceable. Toremove the starter pawls, position the flywheel with thestarter pawls down on two pieces of wood so that thepawls are exposed. Drive out the pawl retaining pinswith a suitable drift.Inspect the starter pawls and springs. Replacecomponents if necessary. Reassemble the pawls andsprings in the reverse order of disassembly. Press thepawl retaining pins into the flywheel. Make sure thatthe shoulder on the pins are flush against the flywheelsurface and that the pawls pivot freely.Flywheel InstallationThoroughly clean and dry the flywheel bore and thecorresponding taper on the crankshaft. On modelsequipped with a removable flywheel key, replace thekey if damaged.
