sure that the storage area does not contain an openflame.• Only use approved containers when you move thefuel or put the fuel into storage.• Empty the fuel tank before long-term storage. Obeythe local law on where to dispose fuel.• Clean the product before long-term storage.• Remove the spark plug cable before you put theproduct into storage to make sure that the enginedoes not start accidentally.Safety instructions for maintenance• If you cannot adjust the idle speed to make thecutting attachment stop, speak to your servicecenter. Do not use the product until the product iscorrectly adjusted or repaired.AssemblyWARNING: Read the safety chapterbefore you assemble the product.To attach the loop handle1. Attach the loop handle to the shaft in compliancewith the illustration and tighten. (Fig. 23)2. Make sure that the loop handle attaches betweenthe arrows on the shaft.To assemble the two-piece shaft1. Turn the knob to loosen the shaft coupling. (Fig. 24)2. Align the tab of the shaft (A) with the arrow on theshaft coupling (B). (Fig. 25)3. Push the shaft into the shaft coupling until the shaftattaches. (Fig. 26)4. Make sure that you tighten the knob before you usethe product. (Fig. 27)To disassemble the two-piece shaft1. Turn the knob to loosen the shaft coupling. (Fig. 28)2. Push and hold the button (C). (Fig. 29) Hold theengine end and pull the shaft out of the shaftcoupling.To assemble the cutting attachmentTo attach the cutting attachment guard andthe trimmer head (straight shaft)1. Attach the cutting attachment guard (A) to the shaftwith the bolt (L).2. Attach the drive disc (B) to the output shaft.3. Turn the output shaft until the hole in the drive discaligns with the hole in the gear housing.4. Put a small screwdriver (C) in the hole to lock theshaft. (Fig. 30)5. Turn the trimmer head (H) counterclockwise totighten the trimmer head to the gearbox. (Left handthreads.) (Fig. 31)To attach the cutting attachment guard andtrimmer head (curved shaft)1. Attach the guard. (Fig. 32) Tighten the nut.2. Attach the dust cup on the shaft. (Fig. 33)3. Hold the dust cup with an adjustable wrench to makesure the shaft does not turn.4. Attach the trimmer head to the shaft. Use a mixture of gasolineand two-cycle engine oil.
