MAINTENANCE26 – English 1153136-26 Rev.1 2009-12-29GeneralThe user must only carry out the maintenance andservice work described in this Operator’s Manual. Moreextensive work must be carried out by an authorizedservice workshop.Carburettor adjustmentYour Husqvarna product has been designed andmanufactured to specifications that reduce harmfulemissions.Function• The carburettor governs the engine’s speed via thethrottle control. Air and fuel are mixed in thecarburettor. The air/fuel mixture is adjustable. Correctadjustment is essential to get the best performancefrom the machine.• The T-screw regulates the throttle setting at idlespeed. If the T-screw is turned clockwise this gives ahigher idle speed; turning it anti-clockwise gives alower idle speed.Basic settings and running inThe basic carburettor settings are adjusted during testingat the factory. Fine adjustment should be carried out by askilled technician.Rec. idle speed: See the Technical data section.Fine adjustment of the idle speed TAdjust the idle speed with the T-screw. If it is necessary tore-adjust, turn the T-screw clockwise while the engine isrunning, until the chain starts to rotate. Then turn anti-clockwise until the chain stops. When the idle speed iscorrectly adjusted the engine should run smoothly inevery position and the engine speed should be safelybelow the speed at which the chain starts to rotate.Correctly adjusted carburettorWhen the carburettor is correctly adjusted the machineaccelerates without hesitation and 4-cycles a little at fullthrottle. It is also important that the chain does not rotateat idle. If the L-jet is set too lean it may cause startingdifficulties and poor acceleration. If the H-jet is set toolean the machine will have less power, poor accelerationand could suffer damage to the engine.Checking, maintaining andservicing chain saw safetyequipmentChain brake and front hand guardChecking brake band wearBrush off any wood dust, resin and dirt from the chainbrake and clutch drum. Dirt and wear can impairoperation of the brake. (91)Regularly check that the brake band is at least 0.6 mmthick at its thinnest point.Checking the front hand guardMake sure the front hand guard is not damaged and thatthere are no visible defects such as cracks.Move the front hand guard forwards and back to makesure it moves freely and that it is securely anchored to theclutch cover.Checking the inertia brake releasePlace the chain saw, with the engine switched off, on astump or other stable surface. Release the front handleand let the saw fall by its own weight, rotating around therear handle towards the stump. (92)When the bar hits the stump the brake should beapplied. (93)Checking the brake triggerPlace the chain saw on firm ground and start it. Make surethe chain does not touch the ground or any other object.See the instructions under the heading Start and stop.(94)Grasp the chain saw firmly, wrapping your fingers andthumbs around the handles. (56)Apply full throttle and activate the chain brake by tiltingyour left wrist forward onto the front hand guard. Do notlet go of the front handle. The chain should stopimmediately. (52)! WARNING! Contact your servicingdealer, if the idle speed setting cannot beadjusted so that the chain stops. Do notuse the chain saw until it has beenproperly adjusted or repaired.Note! All service and repair work on the machinedemands special training. This is especially true of themachine’s safety equipment. If your machine fails any ofthe checks described below we recommend that youtake it to your service workshop.
