OperationNormal PlayOnce the discs have been loaded, they maybe played in a number of different ways.To play all of the tracks on each discin order, starting with the first track onthe disc currently in the play position,and proceeding through each disc thathas been loaded, press the Play button$ h.To start play on a specific disc, press theDisc Select button ( b that corre-sponds to the desired disc’s position inthe disc tray. If no disc is found in theselected position, the unit will search forthe next disc.To play the discs in the FL8350 in ran-dom order, press the Random button@ i. The RANDOM indicator willlight and the FL8350 will select a discfrom those loaded, and then select atrack to play. At the conclusion of thefirst track selection, another disc andtrack will be selected. Playback willcontinue with each disc and track beingrandomly chosen by the FL8350’s micro-processor until all tracks on all discshave been played.When a disc is in play, the InformationDisplay will show a play indication fl,and the icon for the disc position in usewill flash. The track being played willshow both as a large number in themiddle of the display and as a smaller,flashing number at the right side of thedisplay. The elapsed time of the trackbeing played will appear in the display.As the disc plays, the track numbers willchange, and the time will reset toat the start of each new track.To momentarily pause the play of a disc,press the Pause button # j. Notethat a Pause indication ± will appear inthe display to remind you that the disc ispaused. Press either the Play button $h or the Pause button # j toresume to normal play.You may also directly select a specifictrack on the disc being played directlyby entering the track number via theNumeric Controls c d. To playtracks one through ten, simply press thebutton c corresponding to the desiredtrack. To select a track number above 10,first press the +10 button d until thedigit of the track number is shown in thedisplay. For example, press the buttononce for tracks 11 through 19, twice for20 through 29, and so forth. Once the firstdigit of the track number is selected, pressthe Number button c corresponding tothe second digit within five seconds. Theunit will pause briefly to find the trackand then go into the play mode.To stop the disc, press the Stop button% g. When the stop button is pressedthe display will again show the totalnumber of tracks and total running timeof the last disc to be played.Play ExchangeThe FL8350’s Play Exchange featureallows you to change discs while themachine is playing. Using this featureyou can have uninterrupted play of anunlimited number of discs, since thedrawer may be opened and discs changedwhile the machine is still in play.To use the Play Exchange function, sim-ply press the Open/Close button !a at any time while the unit is in thePlay mode. The disc drawer will openand two discs will be available forchange. Replace either disc, or both, asdesired. To reach the other two discs,press the Disc Skip button * p. Youmay now remove and change either ofthese two discs.When you have finished making any discchanges, press the Open/Close button! a. The drawer will close and playwill continue with normal functions.Time DisplayThe FL8350’s time display is capable ofshowing a wide range of informationabout a CD.In normal operation the display willshow the total running time of the CDthat is currently being played. Each timethe track changes, the time display willreset to and begin to increaseagain as the disc plays.To view the time remaining on an indi-vidual track, press the Time button 6l once. The display will now show thetime left in the track currently playing.To view the total time remaining to playon the disc, press the Time button 6l twice. In this time display mode theTRACK indication will show the tracksremaining, not the usual display of thetrack being played.Headphone ListeningYou may listen to the output of theFL8350 through headphones by plugginga set of standard headphones with a 1⁄4"headphone plug into the front panelHeadphones Jack 3. The volume ofthe headphone output may be adjustedwith the Headphones Level Control4. Note that changing the headphonelevel will not change the volume for themain audio output. This is a fixed out-put, and it is changed using the volumecontrol on your receiver, preamplifier orsurround processor.11
