8KEYPAD DESCRIPTION• ON/OFF: to turn the meter on and off.• ZERO: to zero the meter prior to measurement.• READ/TIMER: this is a bi-functional key, just press for making a measurement, or hold thekey for 3 seconds to start a pre-programmed countdown prior to measurement.• CAL CHECK: this bi-functional key allows to perform validation of the instrument just pressingthe CAL CHECK key, or hold the key for 3 seconds to enter the calibration mode.OPERATING MODES• Measurement mode: default operation mode, enables both validation and measurement.• Calibration mode: may be entered by keeping CAL CHECK pressed for three seconds (the “CAL”icon appears), it enables calibration of the instrument.DISPLAY ELEMENTS DESCRIPTION1) four digit main display area.2) CAL: appears when the instrument operates in the calibration mode.3) the Month and Day icons appear above the number of month and day when a date isdisplayed.4) the blinking “Battery” icon appears when the battery voltage is getting low.This prompt appears for 1 second each time the instrument isturned on.This indicates that the meter is in a ready state and zeroing canbe performed.Sampling in Progress. This flashing prompt appears each time themeter is performing a measurement.GUIDE TO DISPLAY CODES13blank• Replace the cap to the cuvet, and shakegently a couple of times.• Place the cuvet with the reacted deionizedwater (blank) into the holder and ensure thatthe notch on the cap is positioned securelyinto the groove.• Hold READ/TIMER for three seconds and thedisplay will show the countdown or,alternatively, wait for two minutes.• Press ZERO and "SIP" will blink on thedisplay.Wait for a few seconds and the display willshow "-0.0-". Now the meter is zeroed andready for measurement.• Remove the blank from the instrument.• Remove the cap from the cuvet and discardthe blank.• Rinse the cuvet a couple of times with theunreacted sample and discard it.Turn upside down the empty cuvet and shakeit to remove excess of liquid.• Fill the same cuvet with 10 mL of unreactedsample.For most accurate results, use of anotherclean class A laboratory pipette is stronglyrecommended.Alternatively, fill the cuvet up to the 10 mLmark.• Add 2 mL of HI 93729-0 Fluoride Reagentto the cuvet by use of the 2000 μL automaticpipette.For a correct use of the automatic pipette,please follow the related Instruction Sheet.2mL
