Network status (connected) Indicates that one or more of your LAN drivers are installed andone or more LAN devices are connected to the network.Network status (disconnected) Indicates that one or more of your LAN drivers are installed butno LAN devices are connected to the network.Using the wireless controlsYou can control the wireless devices in your device using these features:● Wireless switch● Operating system controlsUsing the wireless switchThe device has a wireless switch, one or more wireless devices, and one wireless light. All of the wirelessdevices on your device are enabled at the factory, so the wireless light is on (blue) when you turn onthe device.The wireless light indicates the overall power state of your wireless devices, not the status of individualdevices. If the wireless light is blue, at least one wireless device is on. If the wireless light is amber, allwireless devices are off.Because the wireless devices are enabled at the factory, you can use the wireless switch to turn on orturn off all of the wireless devices simultaneously.Using HP Connection Manager softwareConnection Manager allows you to manage your Internet profiles, SMS (Short Message Service)messaging, connection devices and methods, and edit additional settings.▲ To start Connection Manager, click the HP Connection Manager icon in the notification area, atthe far right of the taskbar.NOTE: For more details about using Connection Manager, refer to the Connection Manager Help.Using HP Wireless Assistant software (select models only)A wireless device can be turned on or off using the Wireless Assistant software. If a wireless device isdisabled by the Setup Utility, it must be reenabled by the Setup Utility before it can be turned on or offusing Wireless Assistant.NOTE: Enabling or turning on a wireless device does not automatically connect the device to a networkor a Bluetooth®-enabled device.To view the state of the wireless devices, position the mouse pointer over the wireless icon in thenotification area, at the far right of the taskbar.NOTE: To display the wireless icon, click the Show hidden icons icon (< or <<) in the notificationarea.26 Chapter 3 Internet
