65Maintenance and Care5.9.2 Adjusting the side brushesCheck the side brushes (Fig. 28/2) eve-ry week for signs of wear. In the eventof wear or after the side brushes havebeen changed, proceed as follows tocomplete the necessary adjustments:1. Park the vehicle on a level surface.Switch the engine off and apply theparking brake.2. Adjust the contact surface of the sidebrush (Fig. 28/2) using the adjustingbolt (Fig. 28/1). The contact surfaceof the side brush should be approx.2/3 of the brush circumference.5.9.3 Changing the side brushesWhen the brushes have worn to a brist-le length of 8 cm or less, the side brus-hes must be replaced.1. Park the vehicle on a level surface.Switch the engine off and apply theparking brake.2. Loosen the screws and washers onthe catch (Fig. 28/3) and remove theside brush (Fig. 28/2).3. Install the new side brush. Only useoriginal spare parts!4. Adjust the side brush, see paragraph5.9.2.
