To use the pinpoint function, position the searchcoil to the side of the target's suspectedlocation at a fixed height above the ground (e.g. 1 inch or2cm). Press and hold the Pinpoint button and sweep thesearchcoil over the target area while maintaining the samefixed height above the ground. Sweep the searchcoil side-to-side and front-to-back in a crosshair pattern to locatethe peak signal. Note: it is recommended to maintain aconstant height during the entire Pinpointing process toprevent ground mineralization from producing false signalsor masking the target's signal. The bar graph on the lCD can also aid in locating thepeak signal. When pinpointing, the upper Scale on the lCDindicates signal strength. When the greatest number ofsegments (increasing left to right) are shown, the center ofthe searchcoil is directly over the target with the depth of acoin-sized target shown on the depth scale. The symbol "PP"for pinpoint is displayed on the lCD while pinpointing. It is recommended to practice pinpointing in a test plot.Note: The center ofdetection is underthe center of the coil, just ahead of its stemmount. The openingjust ahead of the stemmount can serve asyour reference pointfor pinpointing.Indicatespinpointingcenter of the5"x8" DDsearchcoil.
