To increasethe accuracy of the battery gauge,fully discharge the battery andthen fully charge it withoutinterrupting the charging. Forbest results, do not unplug thenüvi until it is totally charged.Battery InformationYour unit contains an internal (non-removable) lithium-ionbattery. Contact your local waste disposal department forinformation on properly disposing of the unit.Battery Tips• Your nüvi’s battery should last 4 to 8 hours depending onusage. The battery gauge indicates the status of the battery.• To extend the battery life, reduce the time the backlightstays on. From the Menu page, select Settings > Display >Backlight Timeout to change the setting. See page 40.• To extend the battery life, close the antenna when you do notneed to receive GPS signals.• To increase the accuracy of the battery gauge, fully dischargethe battery and then fully charge it. You should not need to dothis very often. See “Battery Gauge” in the side bar for moreinformation.• To maximize the life of the lithium-ion battery, do not leaveyour nüvi direct sunlight and avoid prolonged exposure toexcessive heat.
